Heather McMahan has a crush on Today’s Willie Geist, and lucky for her, Willie’s wife, Christina Geist, has no issues with it.
After revealing on Today With Jenna & Friends that she thought Willie, 49, was “handsome,” McMahan, 37, had a run-in with him in her dressing room while cohosting with Jenna Bush Hager.
“You look so good in blue. I don’t even have my[self and] everything ready,” McMahan told Willie in an Instagram video posted Thursday, February 27. “Oh, my God. I’m wearing my slippers, stop.”
Willie teased, “Are we an item?” to which McMahan replied, “Yeah, we kinda are.”

Bush Hager, 43, was seated next to her current cohost and couldn’t stop laughing at the adorable exchange. “By the way, to be clear, I heard from his wife, she’s OK,” Bush Hager said of Christina, claiming she was fine with McMahan’s infatuation with her husband.
Willie verified Bush Hager’s intel, saying his wife “loves” McMahan. “Christina was, like, on board,” he said.
Bush Hager teased, “She’s like, ‘As long as I can go to the Beacon Theatre.’ I’m like, ‘I got you tickets.’” McMahan added that she’d get Christina “backstage.”
“I was surprised by the lack of resistance I got from my wife,” Willie confessed. “She was like, ‘Great, she’s awesome.’”
McMahan, who is married to Jeff Daniels, noted that her spouse was “OK with it too.” She explained, “He was like, ‘If anybody, it’s Willie.’”
Today With Jenna & Friends posted the video via its official account on Thursday, captioning it, “Fancy meeting you here, @williegeist 🤭😂 @heatherkmcmahan caught up with her work crush this morning before #JennaandFriends.”
Willie’s wife, whom he married in 2003, was quick to comment on the video. “HA! Love you, @heatherkmcmahan!” she replied. “I’m confident our marriages can survive this!”
Christina, who shares two children with the journalist, joked, “It’s not the first time I’ve witnessed the WG phenomenon 😘! I get it, girl. Have fun. You’re doing great this week!”
The playful dressing room encounter came one day after McMahan revealed on national television that she was crushing on Willie. (McMahan was Bush Hager’s cohost all week.)
“I have such a work crush, Willie Geist,” McMahan said during the Wednesday, February 26, broadcast before a photo of the anchor came on screen. “Y’all look how handsome. My king.”
The comedian explained that during the Tuesday, February 25, morning meeting she crossed paths with Willie and got flustered.
“He just slid in the chair next to us and he’s like, ‘How are you doing, Heather?’ I melted. I got nervous. I turned red,” McMahan revealed, and Bush Hager confirmed it happened.
McMahan noted she meant “no disrespect” to Willie’s spouse, calling Christina “fantastic” and a “fan” of her comedy.
“Honey, oh, he’s just the best. He’s just tall and handsome and so charismatic,” McMahan gushed when asked what she liked about Willie. “When you see newscasters out and about and they still have a full face of makeup, on sometimes it can be jarring. Willie, you wear a great face. You look fantastic.”
She noted, “I also have a crush on Al [Roker], but everybody has a crush on Al and the women are, like, fighting me for him so I said, ‘I’ll take Willie.’”
