Two people have been found dead amid severe weather in Oklahoma.
The Moore Police Department said they conducted a “swift water rescue” on Saturday, April 19, around 9 p.m. local time amid severe flooding. The rescue involved two vehicles that were “stranded in floor waters.
Police confirmed that a woman and a 12-year-old boy were found deceased — reportedly in a creek after multiple hours of searching.
During the incident, one of the vehicles “left the roadway and was swept under the bridge.” Other occupants of the vehicle were rescued.
“This was a historical weather event that impacted roads and resulted in dozens of high-water incidents across the city,” police wrote in a statement. “The Moore Police Department would like to extend a thank you to our neighboring agencies who assisted in rescue efforts. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victims.”
PEOPLE reached out to the Moore Police Department and were told “there’s no additional information available to release” at this time.

“We are investigating the incident as we do with all fatality related incidents,” police said, adding that they “plan to release more information as it becomes available.”
Police told ABC-affiliate KOCO that both vehicles went off the road during the incident, and one of the vehicles landed on the other. Two people, an adult male and a person believed to be his child, were inside of the vehicle on top, per KOCO.
Both were reportedly able to escape the car and find safety.
The other vehicle had three people inside and ended up in a creek, where it became wedged against a drain ditch, KOCO reported. One person in the vehicle managed to get out and was taken to a hospital in stable condition, the outlet added. Police found the other two bodies in the creek after hours of searching.
Police wrote on X that evening that they were working “more than a dozen motorist assists involving vehicles stuck in high water” and encouraged people to “stay home.”
Moore remains under a flood watch until 7 p.m. local time on Sunday, April 20, per the National Weather Service.
“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the flood watch stated.
