A woman says her husband has “become unrecognizable” since their wedding, and she isn’t sure what to do about it.
On Reddit, the woman explains that she and her husband, both 27, “got married this past year.” However, he “has become almost a different person” since they tied the knot.
“For instance, while on our honeymoon he blatantly flirted with a waitress in front of me,” she writes. “Never before had he crossed a boundary like that let alone on our honeymoon.”
The “shocked” woman says she was “caught off guard” and immediately “started second-guessing” herself — but her intuition proved to be right.
“I didn’t say anything at first telling myself I was being dramatic and over protective- but when she told us we ‘just had to come back to see her the next day’ before we left for the next stop on our trip and he made it a point to go, and not only stop in and have a drink, but to see her specifically, I knew he was flirting,” she writes.
The poster “waited a couple days” to call him out, and when she did, he was “flustered” but “admitted to it.”
“I was shocked. I decided to not be mad, but to keep it in the back of my mind, maybe it was a weird one off thing?” she writes.
However, a couple of months later, they were out at a bar when he began “flirting with another waitress RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!”
“But this time I called him out on it, he denied it, saying he was just asking about her pants, but then follows it up with insulting me!” she continues. “I spent the rest of the night crying in the bathroom.”
On top of his newfound flirty behavior, she notes that “things at home have been off” and she feels like she does “all the work and he only pitches in when I ask him to.”
He has also been “making off-hand comments” about her body and diet despite knowing it’s something she has “always struggled” with.
“A week ago we were celebrating my mom’s birthday at my parents house, I got up to get a snack when he very loudly asked ‘are you really getting a snack?'” she recalls. “My mom scolded him and told him I was allowed to eat whenever and whatever I pleased. I got my snack, but not without feeling judged.”
Despite being reprimanded in the moment, he “made a very similar comment” a few days later while they were alone.
“He never before has made comments about what I’ve eaten or when or how much,” she adds.
The woman notes that she is not “happy” and doesn’t feel like they even “have a friendship anymore” — let alone a romantic relationship.
“I do not recognize him anymore,” she ends the post, asking for advice on what to do next.
