WWE Legend Mick Foley Hospitalized After Gruesome Car Accident

Pro wrestling legend Mick Foley shared the gnarly aftermath of a car accident that sent him to the hospital.

“TOUGH DAY FOR MICK!,” Foley, 59, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, April ,1 alongside a photo of the hardcore icon standing next to his wrecked vehicle. “I have no idea how I am still walking around after this accident. I’m in the hospital now, and I’m sore from my knees to my neck, including a minor concussion.”

The shocking picture showed Foley giving an ironic thumbs up with a fire truck and first responders in the background.

It is unclear what happened in the accident, but the entire front of Foley’s car was torn off and his windshield was apparently totally caved in.

Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Foley for comment.

Members of the pro wrestling community sent Foley their well wishes in the comments section of his post.

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle wrote, “You’ve actually did more damage in The ring than with that car. GOD Bless you Mick.”

“Only you could walk out of a car in that shape and be mostly fine,” wrote former WWE star Mojo Rawley. “Prayers up sir. Hope you’re recovering quickly and painlessly.”

WWE star Natalya commented, “Oh no!!!!! I’m sorry, Mick! You are tough as nails!!!!!!!!!!”

Former WWE star Torrie Wilson, WWE Raw correspondent Cathy Kelley and WWE Women’s United States champion Chelsea Green also left comments on Foley’s post.

Foley became best known for his work during WWE’s Attitude Era in the mid-90s and early 2000s. Competing under the names Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love, Foley was legendary for his hardcore style and risk-taking.

He is a three-time WWE champion, eight-time WWE tag team champion and the inaugural WWE hardcore champion.

Foley was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.

The superstar’s Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker at WWE’s King of the Ring in 1998 is widely-regarded as one of the most iconic matches in pro wrestling history.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the match in 2023, Foley reflected on the indelible moment of him being thrown off the massive steel structure through an announce table below.

“The idea was that Undertaker, this is the big visual I was looking for, Undertaker’s going to chokeslam me, and a corner of that cell, of that panel, would just give way,” Foley said on his “Foley Is Pod” podcast. “And he’s eventually going to stuff me down, headfirst. So the visual I thought was ‘I’m going to be upside down, flailing my arms around, and eventually he’ll let go of my knees, where he’d be kind of holding me, and I would just have to take my own bump into the ring, just doing a semi-turn.”

Foley continued, “It would be a big height, but I thought I could do it. And it was only during the course of the day that I said ‘Hey, how about you throw me off the top of that thing?’”
