A 8-months-pregnant woman and her boyfriend have reportedly died after they were struck by a car being chased by police in Pomona, California.
On Wednesday, April 1, the Pomona Police Department revealed in a Facebook post that the incident occurred after officers responded to a domestic violence report that was unrelated to the couple at around 9:33 p.m. local time.
“When officers arrived and were speaking with the victim, the suspect returned to the location in a truck, driving recklessly and intentionally struck a parked patrol vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene, initiating a police pursuit,” the post added.
The authorities said that officers were chasing the suspect, who they identified as 31-year-old Marshall Judson, southbound when he collided with a passenger vehicle near Garey Ave. and County Road.
Police added that both occupants of the passenger vehicle were “pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Judson of Pomona, was arrested and taken into custody by authorities. “Inside Judson’s vehicle, officers located a firearm and miscellaneous firearm components. Judson also did not have a valid driver’s license,” police added in the Facebook post.

While authorities did not name the victims, the deceased were identified as Marc Anthony Trejo and Jennifer Alejandra Loera Zarco by outlets including CBS News, ABC7 and NBC Los Angeles.
Zarco was more than 8-months pregnant, family members told ABC7.
"It hits different when it's your own son and I really don't have the words for it, but I don't wish this on anybody," Marc’s father, Tony Trejo, told CBS News.
"They were so excited. They had plans, they had projects. They were both very artistic, Jennifer and Marc, and yeah… that's where the story ends."
The couple had been preparing for the birth of their baby boy and had only been celebrating Zarco’s birthday days before their deaths, per NBC Los Angeles.
“Surreal. Like it doesn’t feel like. I feel like I’m dreaming,” Jennifer’s sister, Amber Torres told the outlet. “It’s a bad dream. I’m gonna wake up and she’s gonna be here.”
"Not only two lives were lost last night, it was three,” she added to the outlet. “The baby is a person and was its own being. He was almost here. He was only a couple of weeks from being a part of this family.”
Judson has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, driving under the influence, driving without a valid license, felony evasion, and firearm related charges, the Pomona Police Department wrote in their press release.
PEOPLE reached out to Pomona Police Department and Los Angeles County Medical Examiner for further comment but didn’t immediately receive a response.
