NEED TO KNOW

  • Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland now features characters like Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Darth Vader as the land’s timeline expands across eras
  • John Williams’ iconic Star Wars scores will play throughout the land, enhancing the immersive experience for visitors
  • Guests can also spot authentic props from Star Wars films and TV shows, including items from the series Andor

The Force is even stronger at Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge!

Starting today, April 29, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo and more characters from the original Star Wars trilogy are roaming the land as the timeline for the highly immersive area expands to include the original trilogy and beyond.

In January, the Disney Parks Blog announced guests would soon be able to step into different eras of the Star Wars saga. When Galaxy's Edge initially opened in 2019, its backstory was set between Episode VIII The Last Jedi and Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker — aka the time of Rey and Kylo Ren.

But now, updates to the land will bring new storylines spanning multiple eras to the Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu.

Spread throughout the 14-acre land, visitors may stumble across Darth Vader and a team of Imperial Stormtroopers, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo and Chewbacca. The iconic heroes and villains will join familiar faces already found throughout the outpost, including Ahsoka Tano, the Mandalorian, Grogu, R2-D2, Rey and more.

Some famous sounds are coming to Batuu as well.

John Williams' beloved scores from the franchise's first six films will fill the land, providing the perfect soundtrack for visitors.

Along with the "Main Title" and "Force Theme," guests will recognize motifs such as "Han Solo and the Princess,” “The Desert and the Robot Auction,” and “The Emperor." Plus, Oga's Cantina band will be playing all their hits.

Star Wars fans will need to keep their eyes peeled during their visits to spot some authentic props used in recent franchise films and TV shows.

“There's truly nothing more authentic than the actual screen-used version of a prop,” Asa Kalama, vice president executive for creative and interactive experiences at Walt Disney Imagineering, says in a Star Wars blog post. “If you are a core Star Wars fan, so many of these items have additional meaning. It becomes a fun little surprise and delight moment of discovering, ‘Wait, that's familiar. Where do I recognize that from?'”

While Kalama did not reveal exactly which items to look for, he did offer a little hint: “There are a couple of really lovely pieces from Andor.”

The changes don't stop there. Over in Tomorrowland, the fan-favorite Hyperspace Mountain has returned for a limited time. The temporary overlay of Space Mountain takes travelers on a high-speed Star Wars adventure through swarms of Rebel X-wing starfighters and Imperial TIE fighters alongside the Rebel Alliance.

On May 22, fans will have another reason to return to Galaxy's Edge when a new mission debuts at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. To celebrate the release of Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, the park is taking guests on new adventures to Bespin, Coruscant or the wreckage of the second Death Star above Endor in an update to the existing ride.
