Rosie O'Donnell will join Jimmy Kimmel Live! as a guest host this summer while host Jimmy Kimmel is on break.
During the Thursday, June 18 episode of the late-night talk show, Kimmel, 58, confirmed he is set to take a two-month break. “This time voluntarily,” he joked during his monologue. He went on to share the array of guest hosts filling in for him while he's away.
“We have assembled a potent group of hosts to fill in for me, beginning with Tiffany Haddish, Colman Domingo, Ike Barinholtz, Anthony Anderson, Jelly Roll,” Kimmel said. “And, as a special treat for our commander-in-chief, I asked one of his all-time favorites, Rosie O'Donnell, to be here to keep the hits coming.”
“You're welcome,” he added as the audience laughed and applauded. “And all I ask in return, Mr. President, is that you don't do anything stupid while I'm gone. Okay?”

Kimmel's remarks hint at O'Donnell's decades-long feud with President Donald Trump. Tensions between the two first erupted in 2006, when O'Donnell called Trump out on The View regarding his response to the controversy surrounding Miss USA winner Tara Conner, who was accused of partaking in underage drinking and cocaine use.
Their back-and-forth feud has intensified during Trump's presidencies. Their negative remarks toward one another have primarily taken place online, so much so that O'Donnell, 64, attempted a social media cleanse because of Trump.
The comedian has previously told PEOPLE that the "bullying" she experienced — especially from Trump — had an emotional effect on her.
“Probably the Trump stuff was the most bullying I ever experienced in my life, including as a child,” she said. “It was national, and it was sanctioned societally. Whether I deserved it is up to your own interpretation.”

However, O'Donnell is not alone. Kimmel also has been in a public feud with the president, 80, for nearly a decade. Trump has criticized the talk show host — calling him a “lowlife” and “seriously unfunny” — and has called for Jimmy Kimmel Live! to be taken off the air.
Even so, Kimmel says he harbors no real animosity toward Trump. “I don't love him, but I don't hate him, either,” he told Vulture in a June interview.
“I feel sorry for him,” Kimmel said. “He obviously didn't get hugged a lot.”
