Where Is the “Grease 2” Cast Now? Here’s What the Stars Have Done Since the Sequel’s Debut

Though not a hit when it was released, the 1982 sequel to 1978's 'Grease' became a cult classic

It's been 44 years since Stephanie was on the hunt for a "cool rider" in Grease 2.

The sequel to the iconic 1978 film Grease hit theaters on June 11, 1982, starring Maxwell Caulfield as Michael Carrington — the British new kid determined to win over the Pink Ladies' leader, Stephanie Zinone (Michelle Pfeiffer). The plot was an inverse of the original's Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) and Danny (John Travolta) dynamic and marked one of Pfeiffer's earliest roles on the big screen.

Grease 2 received mixed reviews upon its release and only made $15 million at the box office, per Box Office Mojo. At the time, PEOPLE's critic said it wasn't because of Pfeiffer and Caulfield, calling them "sexy poster material" and "talented."

Years later, the return to Rydell High would become a cult classic with a devoted fan base.

"The movie is a lot of fun, and it targets a very specific kind of audience. I am a little surprised that it has this cult following now," Pfeiffer told Entertainment Weekly for an oral history of Grease 2 in April 2023. "But it's really cool. I guess maybe everything that goes around comes around. With a little distance, people are a little more kind and forgiving."

Didi Conn reprised her role as Frenchy for Grease 2. Christopher McDonald as Goose McKenzie, Adrian Zmed as Johnny Nogerelli, Pamela Adlon as Dolores Rebchuck and Lorna Luft as Paulette Rebchuck rounded out the cast.

In April 2026, Caulfield, McDonald, Zmed and Lorna reunited on the red carpet at the TCM Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles to celebrate the film's enduring legacy.

"I'm honored and thrilled that TCM is realizing how many people love Grease 2, and I'm just grateful that it has the audience and it will continue on because I think that opening number in this movie is one of the great musical numbers of all," Lorna told PEOPLE at the event.

Over four decades later, Grease 2 is still the word. Here's a look at where the stars are today.

One of Pfeiffer's earliest acting jobs was playing strong-willed Stephanie Zinone in Grease 2. During an appearance on the Smartless podcast in September 2025, she admitted to being "terrified" to take on the role because of how "amazing" the first film was.

"[The audience doesn't] know who we are, and they're taking out ads that say 'too hot.' And I'm like, 'Don't say that. What if they don't think I'm hot? Don't tell them I'm hot anyway,' " she remembered, but added that she had fun on set and loved "dancing and singing."

The following year, Pfeiffer had an iconic turn in 1983's Scarface. She went on to earn Oscar nominations for her work in the films Dangerous Liaisons (1988), The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) and Love Field (1992).

In 1992, Pfeiffer donned Catwoman's iconic suit in Batman Returns. She continued to star in several big-name projects, such as The Age of Innocence (1993), Dangerous Minds (1995), One Fine Day (1996), What Lies Beneath (2000), Hairspray (2007) and Murder on the Orient Express (2017).

The California native joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Janet van Dyne in 2019's Avengers: Endgame and Ant-Man franchises, as well as the Disney family as Queen Ingrith in 2019's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

She returned to the small screen in 2022, portraying Betty Ford on Showtime's The First Lady, then took on lead roles in 2026 on The Madison and Margo's Got Money Troubles.

Pfeiffer has been married to television writer and producer David E. Kelley since November 1993. They share two children: daughter Claudia and son John.

The English actor made his debut as exchange student Michael Carrington in the sequel.

In the following years, he starred in Gettysburg (1993), Electric Dreams (1984), The Boys Next Door (1985) and The Real Blonde (1997), as well as on shows like Dynasty, Veronica's Closet, La Femme Nikita, Strip Mall, Casualty, Emmerdale Farm and The Bay.

Along with a slew of holiday TV movies, he made his mark in the soap opera world, appearing on All My Children in the '90s and on an episode of General Hospital in 2026. Caulfield's biggest role is arguably as the one and only Rex Manning in 1995's Empire Records — he has his own day, after all.

In October 2021, Caulfield opened up to PEOPLE about having a hard time watching Pfeiffer's star rise while his stalled a bit after Grease 2's release.

"She delivers, and she defines Hollywood beauty … You can't begrudge them their success," he said. "But … simultaneously, it makes it that much tougher to see that you've been benched. And it took a long wait time to come back."

Caulfield has been married to actress Juliet Mills since December 1980.

Adlon first appeared on the screen as Pink Lady Dolores.

"Of course, I was obsessed with Grease. I was a musical theater kid," she told EW. "The first day of work for everybody was the table read for the movie, and the part of Dolores was still up for grabs between me and this other young actor named Tammy Lauren. We actually sat at the table, and I would read one page or one scene, and she would read another scene."

Since her film debut, Adlon has had a prolific career. She's most famous for voicing The King of the Hill's Bobby Hill, for which she earned an Emmy in 2002, and has voiced roles on other series, including Phineas and Ferb, Bob's Burgers, Tuca & Bertie and Big Mouth. She also voiced Howard Wolowitz's mother on The Big Bang Theory.

The N.Y.C. native also starred in Say Anything (1989), I Love You, Daddy (2017) and Holler (2020) and had guest roles on shows like Mid-Century Modern and Shifting Gears.

She was a writer on Louie and played the Golden Globe-nominated lead role of Sam Fox on FX's Better Things from 2016 to 2022. She directed nearly every episode of the latter, and went on to direct 2024's Babes and an episode of Elsbeth in 2026.

Adlon shares three daughters — Gideon, Odessa, and Valentine, who are also actresses — with ex-husband Felix O. Adlon.

Not long after scoring the role of Doris Finsecker in the 1980 musical film Fame, Maureen Teefy played Pink Lady Sharon Cooper in Grease 2.

From there, the Minneapolis-born actress moved on to roles in 1984's Supergirl and 1997's Men Seeking Women. She also appeared on Max Headroom and Perversions of Science.

Teefy's only on-screen appearance since the late '90s was the 2017 short film Hollywood Girl: The Peg Entwistle Story. In the mid 2010s, she brought her one-woman show A Subject for a Short Story to the stage at various venues.

She has since pivoted away from acting and is a marriage and family therapist in Long Beach, Calif., per Psychology Today.

According to The New York Times, Teefy married Alexander Cassini in 1982. They later welcomed one daughter, photographer Isabella Cassini, before divorcing.

The daughter of Judy Garland and Sidney Luft, Lorna was also somewhat of a newcomer when she took on the part of Pink Lady Paulette Rebchuck, despite making her Broadway debut nearly a decade earlier in Promises, Promises.

"There was no one on that film that didn't feel the same way that we all did. That we were just having a great time. We knew we were not going out and making Shakespeare. We were making Grease 2," she told Today in July 2021, adding that the whole cast "gave 100% of their talent, and they worked their butt off."

Though she continued to appear on-screen, including in the 1998 drama 54 and on episodes of Trapper John, M.D., Murder, She Wrote and The Nanny, Lorna is better known for her singing and stage work. Among her many plays was the Off-Broadway production of Snoopy!!! The Musical and the national and U.K. tours of White Christmas.

Garland has not been far from many of Lorna's projects. The 1998 memoir Me and My Shadows was about life with her mother, and she later produced a critically acclaimed 2001 TV movie based on the book titled Life With Judy Garland: My Shadows and Me. She also co-wrote 2018's A Star Is Born: Judy Garland and the Film That Got Away. In 2022, Lorna and sister Liza Minnelli developed a fragrance in honor of what would have been their mother's 100th birthday.

The actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, and she had a brain tumor removed in 2018, according to Studio 10.

Lorna has two children, son Jesse and daughter Vanessa, and four grandchildren, whom she shared with her late ex-husband Jerry Mamberg. She married her second husband, British musician Colin Freeman, in 1996.

Leif Green joined the T-Birds as Davey Jaworski.

The 1982 film was his acting debut, and he had eight auditions before landing the part.

"I didn't care that it was the sequel to Grease with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. I was just trying to get acting work," he told Lede News in January 2023. "Grease 2 was a big deal because Grease was so popular and famous. My thought was that it was bound to be a success, but it ended up being a colossal failure by many people's standards back in 1982. I mean, it did come out the same day E.T. did, so that didn't help."

Green's career in front of the camera only lasted a few years. After a role in 1983's Joysticks and single episode stints on a handful of TV shows, most notably on The Facts of Life, he stopped acting in 1986.

The West Virginia native didn't quit the industry, however, but moved behind the scenes. Green has worked as a production manager on several animated films, including Mulan (1998), Tarzan (1999), The Lego Movie 2 (2019) and DC League of Super-Pets (2022).

Green is now the CEO of The Young Americans, a nonprofit organization designed to teach and inspire young performers, and lives in California.

McDonald had his breakout role in Grease 2 as the not-so-bright T-Bird Goose McKenzie.

He told EW that he "really, really, really wanted to get" a part in the film, because Grease "was the biggest thing in the world" when he moved to Hollywood in 1978.

"They did a mix-and-match thing, so I didn't get the part that I wanted, which was Johnny Nogerelli, but you couldn't wash the Irish off my face," he said.

McDonald pretty much hasn't stopped acting since. Among his biggest films are Thelma & Louise (1991), Quiz Show (1994), Happy Gilmore (1996) and Rumor Has It (2005).

He also regularly appears on the small screen, with roles on The Watcher, The Gray House, The Miniature Wife and Hacks in the 2020s; he was nominated for an Emmy for the latter.

The actor later reprised his role as Shooter McGavin in 2025's Happy Gilmore 2.

McDonald met actress Lupe Gidley in 1985 during a New Mexico theater production. The two wed in November 1992 and have since welcomed four children.

Alison Price Becker played Rhonda Ritter, another member of the Pink Ladies.

A native of N.Y.C., she acted on the TV series Boone, two more movies and a play before transitioning to a successful career in the restaurant industry.

Per her Instagram bio, she's a product and recipe developer and a food and hospitality consultant. After opening her first restaurant, Alison on Dominick Street, in 1989, she went on to open five more Alison's dining locations.

According to her LinkedIn, she became the proprietor of Sas Domaine Majou in Montreál, France, in 2025.

Price was married to journalist Harry Hurt III from 1993 to 2009, per Slate. The former couple share one son.

Zmed played Johnny Nogerelli, the leader of the T-Birds.

The actor told EW that "Grease is my life," as he's done several national tours and Broadway performances portraying Danny from the original film.

"I did bring a lot of my Danny to Johnny, but he was not as solid cool as the Danny that I was doing on Broadway. I wanted to bring a lot of vulnerability to Johnny," he told the publication. "[Director] Pat Birch wanted me to do Grease 2 because she didn't have any actual greasers from the original show."

Best known for his roles as Jay O'Neill in 1984's Bachelor Party and Vince Romano on T.J. Hooker, the Chicago native also appeared in 2016's Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens and voiced a 2018 episode of Mickey and the Roadster Racers.

Zmed has been married to wife Lyssa Lynne Baker since 2012. He has two sons, singers Zachary and Dylan Zmed, from a previous marriage, per Lancaster Online.

Outside of Grease-related projects, the Brooklyn, N.Y.-born actress played a host of beloved roles on The Practice, Benson and Shining Time Station. Throughout 2025 and 2026, she's appeared on Étoile, Overcompensating, Elsbeth and Best Medicine. She also competed on the U.K.'s Dancing on Ice and appeared in the 2002 film Frida.

Conn has been married to her second husband, composer David Shire, since 1984. The two adopted one son, Daniel. He was diagnosed with autism at age 3, and Conn halted her acting career to care for him, per the Nevada Autism Center.
