A 22-year-old sailor from the USS Harry S. Truman who went missing last week has been found dead, authorities said.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) said that the body of Isaac Benjamin Morris was located in the water near the piers at Virginia's Naval Station Norfolk on Friday, June 19, The Virginian-Pilot and Military.com reported.
Morris was last seen on June 14 at the Naval Station Norfolk around 10 p.m. local time, the Virginia State Police (VSP) said in a missing persons bulletin last week.
In response to Morris' disappearance, the state police issued a critically missing adult alert on behalf of the NCIS.
“This disappearance poses a credible threat to their health and safety as determined by the investigating agency,” the VSP said.
The alert was later canceled after Morris was found.
“The entire Truman team is grieving the loss of Fireman Apprentice Isaac Morris,” said Capt. Daniel Prochazka, commanding officer of USS Harry S. Truman, according to The Virginian-Pilot and Military.com. “Our hearts are with his family, friends and shipmates, and we are focused on supporting them with care and compassion during this difficult time.”
The Navy said Morris served as an Engineman Fireman Apprentice, Military.com reported, adding that he enlisted in the service branch last fall and reported aboard the Truman just two months ago.
No additional information has been disclosed about the case while Morris' death remains under investigation. NCIS did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on Wednesday, June 24.

The news comes after the recent disappearance of Alexander Leo Schlageter, another sailor from Naval Station Norfolk. Schlageter, 26, was last seen on May 29 at the base, the VSP said.
Similar to Morris' disappearance, state police issued a critically missing adult alert for Schlageter. He remains missing and is described as 5' 7" tall, 150 lbs., with brown eyes and brown hair.
