Tommy DeVito is headed down the aisle.
The New England Patriots quarterback is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Michayla Anja, after a surprise oceanfront proposal at Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., according to a press release.
The proposal took place on the resort’s Atlantic Terrace overlooking the ocean, where DeVito arranged custom décor before asking Anja to marry him at sunset, according to the release.
The couple later marked the occasion with a private dinner at Daniel’s, A Florida Steakhouse.
The engagement comes roughly two years after the pair met in 2024, when DeVito was playing for the New York Giants, and Anja was living in Los Angeles, according to the release.

Their relationship later brought them back to the Northeast. After Anja returned to her hometown of Boston in June, DeVito was claimed by the Patriots two months later, reuniting them in New England, according to the release.
Although the couple largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight, DeVito introduced Anja to his Instagram followers earlier this year.

In April, the quarterback shared photos from their offseason trip to Turks and Caicos, including an elevator selfie together, beachside snapshots and scenic views from the vacation. He captioned the post simply, “Turks 📸.”

Anja later supported DeVito during his Super Bowl debut in February, when the Patriots faced the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. She documented the trip on TikTok while wearing a custom jacket featuring the Patriots’ logo and DeVito’s last name, writing, “Super Bowl ready ❤️🫶🏼 #superbowl #patriotsnation #newenglandpatriots.”
The engagement comes as DeVito prepares for the upcoming NFL season with New England, according to the press release.
