The highly anticipated ‘Romy and Michele’ sequel, currently filming, will be released on Hulu

Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino are having another reunion — this time at Disney.
The stars of 1997’s Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion took the stage during the Entertainment Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on Friday, Aug. 14, to preview the upcoming sequel to the beloved film now in development.

“We still own our boutique in Beverly Hills,” Sorvino, 58, told the excited crowd at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
“It’s, like… really chic,” Kudrow, 63, who is playing Michele Weinberger again, said.
While many things remain the same for the duo, Sorvino, 58, who is reprising her role as Romy White, teased that it might be time for them to find true love.
“But will we find any?” Kudrow said. “You’ll just have to watch to find out.”
Before leaving the stage, the two joked that they are now official Disney princesses.
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion followed Sorvino and Kudrow’s Los Angeles-area women as they resolve to pretend they are successful at the 10-year reunion of their Arizona high school. Costarring in the David Mirkin-directed, Robin Schiff-written comedy were Janeane Garofalo, Alan Cumming, Justin Theroux and Elaine Hendrix.
20th Century Studios announced that the sequel, directed by Tim Federle and again scripted by Schiff, was in production on June 8. In a photo shared to Instagram, Kudrow and Sorvino sat in director-style chairs on the comedy’s set. The back of the chairs read, “Romy and Michele 2.”

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event’s Entertainment Showcase featured starry talent from upcoming films and series from the House of Mouse. Audiences were treated to glimpses of Frozen 3, Star Wars: Starfighter, the live-action Tangled remake and more.
