A woman was killed and two others injured after a horse-drawn carriage they were traveling in was struck by a vehicle on an Ohio highway.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday, Sept. 2, a GMC Sonoma hit the horse and buggy from behind as it headed southwest on U.S. Route 50 near State Route 753 in Highland County, WLWT and Fox 19 reported, citing the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
Melinda Coblentz of Greenfield died at the scene of the crash. According to the outlets, the 49-year-old was operating the horse-drawn carriage when the SUV struck it.

Barbara Coblentz, 17, and Mirian Miller, 2, who were both passengers in the carriage, were flown to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
They did not sustain serious injuries in the crash and are expected to recover, WLWT and Fox 19 reported, citing the OSHP.
The GMC Sonoma was operated by Heath Snyder, according to WCPO 9 News. The 31-year-old was not injured in the crash, the outlet reported.
No citations have been announced amid the OSHP’s investigation into the incident.
The OSHP did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Saturday, Sept. 5.
