Bronwyn Newport is shedding light on her split from husband Todd Bradley.
During the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 7 premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 16, Bronwyn, 41, said she knew things were over between them when Todd didn’t plan anything to mark her 40th birthday last September.
“I was surprised Todd didn’t do anything for my 40th — no card, no gift, no party,” she said. “It was my first birthday since my dad passed, and that was really, like, the death of it.”
Later in the episode, Bronwyn called Todd forgetting her 40th “the final straw” in their relationship.
“Ultimately, I realized I had been by myself in that marriage for a long time, and I had to get myself out,” she said.

Three months after her birthday, Bronwyn’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE that she and Todd were splitting after nine years of marriage.
While sitting down with her mother Muzzy in the episode, Bronwyn explained why she’s been putting off officially filing for divorce. “I would like to start that process, but it still feels very raw for me,” she said. “I know that sounds stupid because I’m the one driving this. There has absolutely been a handful of times I should’ve said, ’This is the end.’”
Bronwyn said she still cries “almost every time he and I hang up the phone because I don’t think everybody else understands that there’s a period of time with Todd that I really loved. We’re just not in that period of time anymore.”
When Muzzy asked Bronwyn if she’s “done done” with the marriage, Bronwyn said, “I think I have to be.”
“I got so small that he forgot I was here,” she said. “I don’t know who I am anymore. I’ve never bought a house by myself. I’ve never lived by myself. I went from your house to a dorm room to having Gwen as a permanent roommate to being married to Todd. I’m kind of scared to death. But I don’t think it’s wrong just because it’s scary.”

Bronwyn then addressed her relationship with model Brandon Good, 32, whom she started dating after meeting him on New Year’s Eve, and told her mom, “I know you don’t think I should be dating anybody right now.”
“My mom is very Mormon,” Bronwyn explained in a confessional. “For her, peak would be married in the temple to somebody. Way, way, way, way, way down so low I can’t put my hand down there, would be me married to someone not in the temple and having sex with another man, which is what I’m currently doing. What’s not to hate about this scenario if you’re Muzzy?”
Muzzy said the new relationship has been “very awkward for” Bronwyn’s daughter, Gwen, 20, whose father died when she was young.
“She’s very uncomfortable that it became very public,” Muzzy said. “She’s protective.”
In the episode, Bronwyn also revealed that she’s selling her home, has to be out in 30 days and is planning to buy another home to eventually put in Gwen’s name.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Episodes will stream the next day on Peacock.
