Years of working on her feet meant my mom grew to rely on comfortable shoes on her days off. But no experience proved supportive sneakers to be more of a necessity than when she suddenly developed plantar fasciitis.

Thanks to a recommendation from her acupuncturist, she found relief after turning to Hoka’s Bondi 9 sneakers — and she’s not alone. The style is also worn by Olivia Wilde and recommended by a podiatrist for their plush cushioning that is designed to absorb impact for all-day wear. According to my mom, the arch support and thick soles made all the difference during her recovery.

In addition to the extra sole, one of my mom’s favorite features was the wider toe box that properly balanced out her weight and relieved uncomfortable foot pressure. Since she had to wear these shoes for months to alleviate pain, the breathable knit upper was essential for a cooling and lightweight feel.

The sneakers also have a 3D molded collar, which provides enough ankle support when standing for hours or during long walks. Plus, the rubber outsole helps ensure traction, which is essential when walking on slippery or uneven surfaces. The shoes come in 26 colors, which was important for my mom who wanted to have multiple options to style with different outfits. These sneakers are not only useful for active occasions but can also be worn during casual errands, dinners, and while traveling.

Don’t just take it from my mom — more than 1,200 shoppers also swear by these for a comfortable feel, including one who said their “feet don’t ache after long walks.” Another noted they “can walk around amusement parks all day with very little pain.”
