A couple found dead at a California home is believed to have died in a murder-suicide.
Officers responded to a residence in the 3100 block of Pico Boulevard, a major road in Los Angeles County, to carry out a welfare check on Saturday, Sept. 26, according to a Santa Monica Police Department news release.
They found the bodies of two adults, a man and a woman believed to be a married couple, prompting detectives to investigate the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
Detectives suspect the husband fatally shot his wife at about 6:42 a.m. local time on Saturday, before dying by suicide. Police recovered a firearm at the scene.

Police have stated that it was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.
The identities of the couple have not been shared at this time. Police are withholding the details pending formal identification by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner and notification of next of kin.
