Adam Levine is a proud coach.
Speaking with PEOPLE after Alexia Jayy was announced as the winner of The Voice: Battle of Champions, the Maroon 5 frontman said he saw her winning potential from the start.
"She's one of the best singers I've ever heard sing, ever," Levine, 47, says.
He continues, "I've been wrong before but I really believed that she was gonna win this thing."

In addition to her musical talents, the "She Will Be Loved" singer also praised Alexia Jayy for being "one of the most magical people."
"As a human being, she's such a wonderful spirit. I love her very much," Levine says.
"I would have been super surprised if she wasn't my last person standing," he adds.
After Alexia Jayy was announced as the winner, the contestant began to cry — and she called her mom on FaceTime as soon as she got off the stage.
"I was in complete shock. I could not process it. I had to call my mom with tears in my eyes and she was just as happy as I was. I'm excited and I'm so happy to be here," she tells PEOPLE.
"My mom has been doing this with me for a very long time. I've been singing since I was 2 years old… she cultivated all of this," she says. "Being able to see the fruits of her labor is probably the dopest thing that I could ever give her. So calling her first was an obvious choice."
During her blind audition, Levine might have predicted her victory by saying "this is who has to win." Looking back on that moment, Alexia Jayy says she "couldn't believe it."

"When he said that I thought, 'Maybe I got a shot.' And we're here, we did it. Adam may be a prophet I don't know," she says with a laugh.
Alexia Jayy competed against Team Kelly's Liv Ciara and Mikenley Brown and Team Legend's Lucas West.
Following her victory, the contestant released her newest single "Rent Free" and she hopes to continue to perform on big stages.
"I'm from a small town and we don't get to do stuff like this. So everybody back home, I'm so glad to do this for you," Alexia Jayy, who's from Mobile, Ala., says.
