Aimee Song Shares All the Details from Her Son Milo’s Transportation-Themed Second Birthday Party (Exclusive)

Aimee Song’s son is officially 2 years old — and she had the perfect birthday party theme to celebrate!

The influencer, 39, partnered with Minted to put together a “Cruisin’ Into Two” birthday party for her son Milo. Song, who shares Milo and son Teo, 4, with partner Jacopo Moschin, caught up with PEOPLE to share all the details behind the special moment.

“We’ve been so busy packing because we’ll be traveling, and about two weeks ago I realized we’d actually be out of L.A. on Milo’s birthday,” she says. “I immediately started looking for inspiration on Minted, where I found the cutest transportation-themed invitation.”

“It felt so ‘Milo’ because he’s completely obsessed with anything that moves, like cars, airplanes, rockets, buses, etc.,” continues Song.

Song says the invitations and stationery were the first thing she ordered so she could get the RSVPs done. The mom of two opted for the Adventure Begins design by Minted artist Creo Study for her invitations, thank you cards and favor tags. She also chose custom signage based on the original invitation design.

“Once that was done, I built the entire party around that design. Having the stationery first made every decision after that so much easier because I already had a clear vision to work from,” she explains.

With the theme in mind, she began thinking about what kinds of activities and details she wanted for Milo’s party.

“I’m a huge believer that toddler birthday parties should be as low-stress as possible,” says Song. “The last thing parents want to do is spend two hours chasing their kids around while juggling snacks and meltdowns. This isn’t my first rodeo.”

“I knew the main attraction had to be the carousel. It fit the theme perfectly, and every toddler loves riding over and over again,” she continues. “But I also wanted another activity that was calm and engaging, so we added several sensory stations.”

Song says she’s previously rented bounce houses, but with her kids being 2 and 4, she knew it might become chaotic. The sensory tables were a “perfect choice” because the kids could stay occupied while parents could actually relax.

For adults, Song created the Pit Stop Café inside her back house, which had coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, lemonade and a fruit cart. She called it the “biggest win of the day” since parents were actually able to relax while their little ones were playing.

Looking back on the day, Song shares that her favorite part was seeing how many people showed up to celebrate Milo.

“My best friend Ira flew in from San Francisco just for the day. My other best friend, Cuit, postponed his trip to Mexico so he could help us set everything up and celebrate Milo,” she says. “Nicholas, my very first assistant who’s become such a dear friend, spent the day capturing content so I could actually be present and enjoy the party.”

“My sister and her best friend Carol took over with the kids early that morning and again afterward so we could finish setting everything up. Of course, Jacopo handled everything that nobody sees,” continues the mom of two. “It reminded me how lucky we are to have such an incredible village around us. That was by far the most meaningful part of the day.”

Going into Milo’s third year, Song says she’s excited for her family of four to travel and share more adventures.

“There were a few trips this past year that Milo had to skip because, let’s be honest, traveling with a one-year-old isn’t exactly a vacation. It’s hard,” she admits.

“Now that he’s getting a little older, I’m looking forward to sharing more adventures with him. I’m especially excited for him to spend more time with his grandparents in Italy and continue building those relationships. Those memories are going to be so special for all of us.”
