Andrew Garfield, Owen Thiele, Nick Robinson, and a few other familiar faces boarded a plane to New York City—only to get stuck in Albuquerque, N.M.
The Delta flight from Los Angeles to N.Y.C. was forced to make an emergency landing in Albuquerque on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Love Island USA‘s Dylan Wrona and singer Mark Ambor were also on the plane.
“We apologize to our customers on Delta Flight 958 (LAX to JFK) on Sept 9, which diverted to Albuquerque due to a smoky odor in the aircraft,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “The aircraft landed uneventfully and our teams worked to re accommodate customers as quickly as possible to their final destinations.”
Thiele, 29, documented the experience through a series of humorous Instagram photos and revealed that he befriended his seatmates, who also found themselves stranded in an unfamiliar city.
“We just had an emergency landing in Albuquerque. Any recs?” the Adults star, 29, wrote on top of a photo of a firefighter on the plane.

“Andrew Garfield on my flight,” Thiele captioned the subsequent selfie. “If plane went down it would’ve said Andrew Garfield and others. Nick Robinson here too. Andrew Garfield, Nick Robinson and others.”
Thiele shared photos alongside a group of people and said they went to a nearby Dave & Buster’s amid the peculiar situation, and later ordered food from P.F. Chang’s to the airport.
He concluded the series of posts with a photo of the paper fortune from inside a fortune cookie. The fortune read “a thrilling new experience is at your fingertips,” which he captioned “girl…”
Thiele’s post quickly went viral across numerous social platforms, with fans of his Adults character Anton drawing a connection to an episode of the hit FX show, in which Anton’s housemates called him “friend slut,” or someone who makes friends with every stranger he meets.
“This was an experience,” one person wrote in an X post reacting to the incident. “Owen Thiele is Anton irl.”

After the emergency landing, the group of actors made it to their destination, and Thiele even shared that “Nick Robinson [was] sitting next to me.”
The actor and In Your Dreams podcast host went on to share that he is now “in a group chat” with his new friends.

Instead of embarking on a quest across Albuquerque, Wrona, 24, shared a snap alongside Garfield, 43, as they waited in the airport for the new plane to complete their flight to New York.
“Our plane is here to save us,” Wrona captioned the selfie on his Instagram Stories.
