Antonio Cipriano tells PEOPLE why he's "glad" fans don't see Logan "in love" in season 1 and reveals why India Fowler will be the "perfect" Grace

Off Campus season 2 is shifting gears from the order of Elle Kennedy's book series, but that doesn't mean Logan and Grace's romance is going to be missing.
Prime Video confirmed on Thursday, May 28, that season 2 will focus on Dean and Allie's romance, as told in Kennedy's The Score, with Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla to take over as the leads from Belmont Cameli and Ella Bright's Garrett and Hannah.
The show is deviating from the order of Kennedy's books, which explored the romance between Logan and Grace in the second installment, The Mistake.
Prior to the season 2 news, star Antonio Cipriano told PEOPLE what he's excited to see in the new episodes from Logan, and revealed how Grace will fit into it all.
"I'm glad that you don't see him in love in the first season," Cipriano, 26, says of Logan. "I think it's cool that you get to know who he is as a person and the struggles that he's going through, so that when that comes in, when you meet Grace and when he gets to do that, she gets to take down his walls, and you get to see even more of that."
He says it's "very exciting" to have Grace — who will be played by India Fowler, the show announced just days before it premiered —enter the picture.

"What's great about the first season is the fact that you do know everybody and you're rooting for everyone. So whoever's season it is, you're going to be excited. You're going to be rooting for them to get that love," Cipriano says.
"Obviously, we have a Grace now, and that's very exciting. So there's going to be a little bit of that [in season 2], and we'll just see how it all plays out."
The Broadway star also dishes on what the casting process for Grace was like. "I got to read with three amazing and completely individual, different versions of Grace, and they were all incredible," he says.
"India just brought something so … I don't know, she truly fell right out of the books. It was just like I was talking to Grace."
He points to Fowler's "quirkiness" in particular as something that made her stand out as the perfect choice to play the character, a freshman at Briar who catches Logan's eye.

"When we were watching the videos back, some of the chem reads, after having done it that day, [showrunners] Louisa [Levy] or Gina [Fattore], one of them said, 'It's cool, because you can tell she has no idea what's going to come out of her mouth next,' which is so Grace, and it was so perfect."
He continues of Fowler, 22, "She's going to bring so much to the show. She's going to elevate it, and I'm so excited for Logan and Grace's dynamic."
"It's perfect. She's exactly the person we need for this role," he teases. "I'm excited."
