Two adults, a toddler, and a baby were found dead in a home in Los Angeles' North Hills neighborhood on Wednesday, May 27 in a potential murder-suicide, police say.
Officers were called to the scene at approximately 7:50 p.m. local time on Wednesday, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson (LAPD) confirmed to PEOPLE. Investigators currently believe the deaths to be a murder-suicide which occurred in a home on the 16200 block of Londelius Street.
The victims, who all allegedly sustained fatal gunshot wounds, included an adult man and woman both in their 20s, a toddler, and a four-month-old baby, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Authorities currently believe the woman shot the man and children before shooting herself, The LA Times reports, citing law enforcement sources.
“This is an absolute tragedy and given the number of deceased, the Robbery-Homicide Special is handling the investigation,” LAPD Capt. Mike Bland said in a statement to the outlet.
The identities of the victims are yet to be publicly released.
"It's hard, like I don't know how someone could be driven to do something like that, that is such innocence," Luis Enriquez, a neighbor, told CBS LA. "I don't know who did it, I don't know the whole information, but to me, even if it's a stranger, how can you do that to a child. Two children in this case."
Neighbors have been leaving flowers at the residence to honor the victims, KTLA reports.
