Benny Blanco Hasn’t Figured Out ‘Anything’ About His Wedding with Selena Gomez — Except This 1 Thing

  • Benny Blanco revealed that he wants a special challah made by Jewish cook and food writer Jake Cohen on his wedding menu
  • A challah is a special bread in Jewish cuisine, often eaten during Jewish holidays or special occasions
  • He and fiancée Selena Gomez also discussed their love for corn and teased that it could also show up on the menu

Benny Blanco is only sure about one thing when it comes to his upcoming nuptials with Selena Gomez.

The music producer, 37, revealed on the April 30 episode of the Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware podcast that he has one request for his wedding with the Only Murders in the Building star, 32, and it involves a special Jewish dish.

“We haven’t figured out like anything in our wedding yet — the only thing I’ve said straight up, as a part of the food, is that I want [Jewish cook and food writer] Jake [Cohen] to do the challah,” Blanco explained.

“That’s all I care about,” he added. “He makes the best challah I’ve ever had.”

Challah is a special bread in Jewish cuisine, which is typically made out of yeast and braided. It is often eaten during Jewish holidays or special occasions. According to the Connecticut Public, Cohen’s recipe includes honey, sesame, fennel, poppy, nigella, and/ or cumin and sea salt to garnish.

However, that certainly won’t be the only food item served at the wedding. The couple also raved on the podcast about their love for corn-based items. Blanco in particular opened up about his “love” for eating cornbread, corn casserole and corn pudding during Thanksgiving.

Gomez also chimed in that she also loved the food item and could “eat” a lot of it. She explained, “I love [it], like, because you can make it the Mexican street with all of [the corn]. [That’s] how I grew up.”

“So, your wedding’s gonna be picky bits?” Lennie Ware asked the couple, to which the “Single Soon” producer joked, “Just corn.”

Gomez added with a laugh, “It’s just gonna be corn.” Lennie teased that it’s going to be “the corny wedding.”

Elsewhere in the podcast, the couple shared their plans for a first dance — or lack thereof. The “Calm Down” singer revealed that she doesn’t “think we’re looking at having” a first dance. Blanco chimed in that it was because “she’s shy.”

However, Gomez shared that she would be open to a “special dance” with her grandfather on her mother’s side because she wanted her grandfather to “have the opportunity to” get to experience being a part of the wedding events that he missed out on with her mother’s wedding.

Gomez and Blanco confirmed their relationship in December 2023 and announced their engagement a year later in December 2024. “Forever begins now,” Gomez wrote in her engagement announcement, alongside shots of her new diamond ring.

The pair first met in 2013 through Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefey, before collaborating on music. Blanco went on to co-produce the songs “Kill Em With Kindness” and “Same Old Love” on Gomez’s 2015 album, Revival.
