Bethenny Frankel Says She Will Never Use a Hotel Towel or Sheet Again After Bacterial Infection in St. Barths

NEED TO KNOW

  • Bethenny Frankel provided an update for fans curious about the cause of the bacterial infection she contracted while vacationing in St. Barths
  • Frankel claimed in a new TikTok video shared on Thursday, Jan. 15 that she likely picked up the rash from a hotel towel
  • She then said that she would “never” be using a hotel towel or hotel sheets again

Bethenny Frankel said she would never use a hotel towel or sheet again after she contracted a bacterial infection on her face while vacationing in St. Barths.

“I need you to know that a doctor had to come on here and clarify the facial chlamydia, which I became the unpaid spokesperson for, does not exist,” Frankel, 55, said in a new TikTok video shared on Thursday, Jan. 15.

“The internet is a very scary place. So I had a bacterial infection from towels,” Frankel continued in the video, while petting her dog. “It happened once to my daughter. She was the one who recognized it when it happened to me, and it started to happen to her. And towels hold bacteria, so does sheets.”

The Real Housewives alum continued, “And if you’ve ever been behind a hotel looking for your kids’ blanket and seeing those disgusting bins of towels and linens, it’s not like the second that you take your towel, even in the best of hotels, if they’re washing it, like, they just immediately, the towel fairy takes it off and it gets washed.”

Frankel then claimed that instead of being immediately washed, the towels and sheets then go into “these bins with food and beverage and heat and God knows what, I’m not gonna get into,” adding that it “just is not sanitary in any situation.”

Citing her dermatologist and facialist, Frankel added that even a “well cleaned towel” can “hold bacteria.” She then compared the hotel towels and sheets to makeup sponges.

“Makeup sponges, you can clean them out as much as you want. They hold bacteria, so do powder puffs, so do makeup brushes, so you have to do the best you can, you can’t live inside a bubble, but I’m just telling you that I will never, ever in my life use a hotel towel or sheet again, so you’re welcome,” Frankel concluded the video.

When a fan chimed in to ask how Frankel was planning to travel with sheets and towels going forward, she responded, “Researching this.”

The video was a follow up post to her viral Instagram post shared on Jan. 4. She shared a series of photos from her vacation with her daughter Bryn and gave her followers a recap of how she spent her New Year’s Eve, including revealing that she was “dealing with a bacterial infection.”

In the post, she included a close-up photo of the red, bumpy rash covering her face.

Frankel didn’t reveal what led to the infection. However, she explained in another video, “My entire face broke out in a rash.”
