Billie Lourd and Gabourey Sidibe are teasing a "definitely different" season of American Horror Story.

Sidibe, 43, and Lourd, 33, chatted exclusively with PEOPLE at the Disney 2026 Upfront at New York City's Javits Center on Tuesday, May 12, where the duo gave a glimpse of what to expect with season 13.

"We're so excited," Lourd said. "We can't tell you much."

The Booksmart actress added, "It's definitely different, as you can see from the other people that are also at this upfront. There are a lot of fan favorites that are coming back. I said that very slowly. I was very careful."

Sidibe chimed in, describing the upcoming season, "like a casserole of your favorite foods." Lourd agreed, adding, "Like a minestrone."

During the interview, Sidibe also reflected on how she joined American Horror Story back in season 3. "So it's been like more than 10 years of being part of this, and so it's really great," she gushed.

"I came in season 6, 2017. So, almost 10 years for me," Lourd said.

"So, maybe it's a little longer for me. Maybe it's 13 years or something," Sidibe continued. "Look, it always, every time we're back, it feels like home. It feels like a family that you forget that you're annoyed by, and so it's really wonderful. The magic is always magical. It's really fun."

Lourd said that while it's "hard," there are also "cozy" moments, and Sidibe said she was "so proud" of her costar.

"Gabby's really taking care of me today," Lourd shared.

At the event, exes Emma Roberts and Evan Peters took the stage together to announce their roles — seven years after they called off their engagement in March 2019.

Showrunner Ryan Murphy previously teased Roberts, 35, returning, captioning an April Instagram post, “@emmaroberts Returns as Madison Montgomery. AHS 13 September."

The actress, who played the witch Madison in season 3, turns around at the piano to deliver her character's classic line, “Surprise bitch. Bet you thought you'd seen the last of me."

American Horror Story alums Sarah Paulson and Angela Bassett were also part of the presentation. In another Instagram post from Murphy, 60, he confirmed that Paulson, 51, would be playing Cordelia Chase, who was also from the Coven season.

"The Supreme Rises. And yes, we have rebuilt the entire Robichaux Academy," he captioned.

According to FX, the popular cast members will reprise their roles from prior seasons and will “do justice to everyone's most feared number."

Rounding out the cast so far are Ariana Grande, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Leslie Grossman.

Lange, 77, previously said she would never return to American Horror Story while speaking with an Irish radio station at the Glasgow Film Festival (via Deadline).

“Oh Christ, no,” Lange said at the time. “I mean, I haven't done it for more than 10 years, 12 years, so, no, I'm not doing it.”

Finally, Paul Anthony Kelly, who rose to stardom with his role as John F. Kennedy Jr. in Love Story, was announced to be joining the cast of season 13. “I guess every nightmare needs fresh blood … and thirteen's my lucky number,” Kelly, 37, said. His role is still unknown.
