Brad Pitt‘s Cliff Booth is entering 1970s Hollywood in the new trailer for the actor’s sequel to 2019’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
Netflix released a trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth on Monday, Sept. 21. The movie sees Pitt, 62, reprise the role that he won an Academy Award for at the 2020 Oscars from Quentin Tarantino‘s acclaimed movie. This time, Tarantino, 63, returns to Cliff’s world only as a screenwriter, while David Fincher (The Social Network, Gone Girl) directs from Tarantino’s script. The new trailer meets Cliff working odd jobs in Hollywood in 1977, eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
“Los Angeles no longer needs a hippie-slaying stuntman the way it did. But Hollywood will always have problems, problems that can only be solved by someone with Cliff’s unique (occasionally extralegal) abilities,” reads an official synopsis for the movie. “When he’s not earning his keep bartending or as a projectionist, Cliff Booth is a fixer — solving situations for Hollywood’s greats and, sometimes, not so good.”
“He’s curious when he gets a call from talent agent Karen Crosby (Elizabeth Debicki), on behalf of her client, TV megastar Charlie Peters (Scott Caan) — a man known for doing his own stunts,” the synopsis adds. “And he’s further entertained and intrigued when he meets other characters in Charlie’s world, from his knowing wife Toni (Carla Gugino) to pro football champion turned screen star Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). Then there are the Verdusco brothers (Matt Groove and JB Tadena), mysterious gangsters causing mayhem across the city. What was once a fairytale is now a crime story — a cocktail of violence, ambition, and desire that could only happen in LA.”

The trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is the first glimpse at the movie audiences have received since a surprise teaser trailer aired during Super Bowl LX all the way back in February. Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian also costar in the new film, on top of a supporting cast led by Debicki, 36, Abdul-Mateen II, 40, Caan, 50, and Gugino, 55.
The film sees Pitt reunite with Fincher, 63, for the first time since they made their 2008 movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The pair also worked together on Se7en and Fight Club. Outside of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Tarantino and Pitt previously worked together on 2009’s Inglorious Basterds. Though the new Cliff Booth-centric movie makes reference to Leonardo DiCaprios character from Once Upon a Time, Rick Dalton, DiCaprio does not appear to be involved in the production.
