Brenda Song is sharing more about a recent experience she had flying with her two young sons.

While speaking with PEOPLE at the season 2 premiere for Running Point, the actress, 39, further opened up about her recent experience flying with Alaska Airlines. In the aftermath of her travel experience, Song explains that she's always talking about the hardships of traveling with children.

"Everyone is like, 'Oh, parents are always trying to take the easy way out and not picking seats together,' " she says. "And then when you do all the right things and things still don't go right, it's crazy. I think the hardest thing for me was them expecting my 3- and 4-year-olds to be able to sit by themselves 20 rows behind us and like with a stranger."

Song says that the moment was hard because she realized that people were just trying to do their jobs, and everyone was trying to figure things out in the moment. Despite everything, she was grateful that everything "worked out" and her family made it to their destination safely.

"It all worked out. We made it. We're all happy and healthy. We're fine," she says, reflecting on the experience. "At the end of the day, [it's] a very small problem in the big scale of things."

On Saturday, March 21, the Suite Life of Zack and Cody alum first called out the airline for splitting up her family during a recent vacation. She said that she and her family would never fly with them again after claiming her family’s seats were given up with no warning.

“I didn’t know when you book your first class tickets 6 months in advance for your family of six for your son’s birthday — @alaskaair can just give away your seats the morning of with no warning — splitting up you and your 3 and 4 year old kids,” Song wrote on her Instagram Stories. “We will never fly @alaskaair again and neither should you.”

Song and her fiancé, Macaulay Culkin share sons Dakota, born in April 2021, and Carson, whose birth was confirmed in December 2022 by his uncle, Kieran Culkin.

Moments after Song shared her travel story on social media, Macaulay, 45, reposted her grievances to his own Instagram Stories, quipping, “Hell hath no fury like a Brenda scorned…”

A representative for Alaska Airlines told PEOPLE in a statement at the time that Song and her family’s experience was "unacceptable and not reflective of the care” they strive to provide.

"Traveling can be stressful, especially with young children, and we pride ourselves on being a top airline for traveling families,” the representative continued. “We are deeply sorry for adding friction to the experience."

Alaska Airlines added that they "have reached out to the family to make it right," noting that "we appreciate that guests have a choice in the airline they select and we take our responsibility to deliver a safe, reliable, and caring experience every single time."
