One couple’s wedding photos were interrupted by the groom’s sudden nosebleed.
Brylee and Ethan O’Neill’s sunset wedding photo shoot on May 31 at Kacena Farms in Vinton, Iowa, took an unexpected turn when the couple “accidentally bonked heads,” resulting in the groom’s nose to instantly start bleeding — on the bride’s face and hair.
A now-viral clip of the ordeal was posted by the wedding videographers on Instagram on Sept. 22. “Nothing like a bloody nose to start your married life together 😅😂,” husband and wife duo Madelyn and Tyler Vande Lune, owners of Vande Lune Films, wrote in the caption.
In the video, Ethan suddenly leans back and releases his embrace of Brylee. Brylee immediately points out that he has a bloody nose, unaware that the evidence was on her.
“Did you head butt him?” someone asks off camera. In response, the bride turns to Ethan and says, “I didn’t head butt you that bad!” At that moment, she must have felt the blood on her face because she points at herself and asks if any is on her, then gasps as she tries to wipe the bright red blood off her face and front strand of hair.
“Thankfully, it didn’t get on her dress!” Tyler tells PEOPLE. “She noticed pretty quickly when she saw it dripping from the groom’s nose.”
No one had any tissues on hand, so Tyler set his cameras down and ran back to the bathroom at the venue to grab paper towels for the couple. “The photographer and I helped clean everything up,” he says.
Luckily, the couple didn’t let the approximately five-minute-long nosebleed ruin their photo shoot.
“It couldn’t have happened to a more easygoing couple — they laughed it off and had a great attitude,” Tyler says. “After cleaning up, we finished sunset photos/videos, and they were total champs.”
Commenters on Instagram thought the situation was hilarious.

Brylee and Ethan met in January 2023 at Deringer’s, a bar in Cedar Falls, Iowa, according to their wedding website. The following month, the pair started officially dating. Just over a year later, Ethan popped the question on Feb. 25, 2024. The couple got legally married at a courthouse on May 31, 2024 — one year before their wedding reception.
