Bride Falls in Love with $13,800 Designer Gown That’s $4,000 Over Her Budget on Say Yes to the Dress (Exclusive)

What happens when the dress is right, but the price tag isn’t?

In the April 19 episode of Say Yes to the Dress, bride-to-be Kenzie goes gown shopping for her upcoming nuptials at the iconic Kleinfeld Bridal, where she immediately falls in love with a stunning Zuhair Murad confection that just so happens to be nearly $4,000 over her budget.

In an exclusive teaser clip of the scene, Kenzie, a radio host, makes a breathtaking entrance in an off-the-shoulder and very sparkly dress that features a voluminous floor-length skirt and dazzling embellishments arranged in a chevron pattern.

“I’m loving the top, the way it cuts at my chest, I’m loving the cap sleeves. It’s big, it’s beautiful, it’s sparkly,” gushes Kenzie.

Her loved ones, including her mom and future sister-in-law, also give the design high praises.

“I think she looks beautiful. I can tell she looks beautiful in it,” says mother of the bride, Dawn.

When host and bridal designer Randy Fenoli asks her how it feels to see her daughter in a wedding dress for the first time, Dawn says: “It’s overwhelming. She’s not my little girl anymore.”

Kenzie reacts to seeing herself in the dress and admits she’s “certainly not disappointed” with her selection — despite it being out of budget with its grand total of $13,800. (“This is a coupon-clipper,” she jokes.) However, a Kleinfeld employee says because the gown is a part of a trunk show, the price can be lowered closer to Kenzie’s budget.

“I get it. It’s beautiful. It’s unparalleled to anything you’ve ever seen. It’s stunning,” justifies Dawn.

Season 23 of Say Yes to the Dress premiered on April 5. Per a synopsis, the episodes chronicle multiple bride experiences from “a non-binary bride seeking two looks in one to a modest bride searching for the perfect gown for her conservative Jewish ceremony to a bald bride ready to prove she is beautiful without a veil.”

The six-episode installment will air through May 10. All episodes are also available to stream on Max, Hulu, Philo and Discovery+.
