Bryce Dallas Howard Turned Into a ‘Momager’ for Dad Ron Howard’s The Studio Cameo — and Even ‘Approved’ His Outfits

Bryce Dallas Howard had her doubts about how her dad Ron Howard would fare filming his cameo for The Studio, but he really proved her wrong.

Ron, 71, surprised his daughter during a live taping of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, which prompted a revelation from Bryce, 44, about the “momager” role she took on when her dad was going to set for the Seth Rogen new series.

“I was so nervous for him because he hasn’t acted — he’s done some stuff, like in Arrested Development, he’s done some cameos here and there — but [this was] like a real part with dialogue, and they’re shooting it all with oners, so you cannot mess up,” Bryce said.

“And I was very nervous for him, so I went with him. I was like a momager. I went with him to set, and I liked what he was wearing, I approved of that.”

“She’d acted with Seth Rogen, so she thought she could pave the way,” Ron quipped amid his daughter’s confession.

Bryce said she also “made sure he was hydrated” as she revealed how shocked she was when it came time for the legendary director to get on camera.

“He went and he did the rehearsal, and honestly, I was like, oh my God. He was so good,” she recalled. “He was so on point, and everyone was just sort of baffled by it, frankly.”

Bryce then quipped, “I guess you have learned a bit from Tom Hanks over the years. And you were great before Tom Hanks, but he’s like — he definitely rubbed off on you.”

Ron appeared as himself in the episode, which aired on April 2, and things got heated between him and Rogen’s fictional studio head Matt Remick over a “note” Matt delivered on Ron’s latest movie, Alphabet City, which stars Dave Franco and Anthony Mackie. Mackie also appeared as himself in the episode.

Ron wrote in an Instagram post following the episode’s premiere that he “had such a blast” on set with Rogen, 43, and the rest of the cast, which includes Ike Barinholtz, Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn and Chase Sui Wonders.

“Only one thing to say to Seth, Evan and the entire team…You Rule. Thanks for including me,” Ron wrote in the caption.
