Chipotle is honoring the two teams facing off in the NBA Finals.
The chain announced it is giving away 53,000 free burritos to fans following the basketball championship series, according to a June 3 press release shared with PEOPLE.
The campaign is linked to the number 53 in a special recognition of the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs, per the release. 53 years ago, in 1973, the Knicks won their last championship, and the Spurs franchise moved to San Antonio.
The chain also wanted to spotlight 53 ingredients it uses in its food, per the release.
To win one of the free burritos, fans must use a text-to-win code that Chipotle will post on X immediately after the final game of the series. The first 53,000 U.S. fans to text the code to the number 888-222 will receive a free entrée offer.
In another move honoring several Knicks players, the digital menu on the Chipotle app and website will feature Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges’ go-to orders as menu items for a limited time.

The chain highlighted the high-protein level in each of players' meals, with Hart’s burrito featuring double adobo chicken boasting 95 grams of protein and Bridges’ double adobo chicken bowl having 71 grams of protein.
Per the release, Mikal Bridges said he has eaten Chipotle every day since 2013. Hart is similarly a fan of the brand, the release said.
Chipotle gave customers another opportunity to get free burritos earlier this year.
In honor of National Burrito Day on April 2, 2026, the chain launched its Burrito Vault online game for the third year in a row. From March 30 to April 1, players had the chance to win buy one, get one (BOGO) entrées, double protein or free burritos for a year.
Chipotle Rewards members could win the prizes if they guessed an hourly burrito order combination in the vault game from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
Players had four tries per hour to guess the order and could win at most one BOGO entrée or double protein during the campaign, along with the chance to win the grand prize of free burritos for a year, which was granted to the first player to unlock the vault each hour.
Per a release from the chain, the game offered over $2 million in prizes to redeem on National Burrito Day.
Chipotle offered 3,600 BOGO entrée prizes per hour, followed by 2,000 double protein awards per hour.
In addition, each day offered a Double Protein Power Hour mode once each day of the promotion, with double the number of prizes and double the protein per prize.
Additionally, the first two players to unlock the vault in the Power Hour received double protein burritos for a year.
The chain also offered a $0 delivery fee for digital orders of over $10 through its website or app in honor of the unofficial holiday.
The chain cited that its Burrito Vault game had over 3.5 million plays in 2025, allowing for “record-breaking engagement” with its customers.
