Following three divorces in the last eight years, HGTV star Christina Haack is opening up about her issues with codependency and anxious attachment style.
On Wednesday, April 9, Haack took to Instagram to share that she “recently discovered” she has “anxious attachment” and “for sure a history of codependency issues.”
Admitting she’s “not sure what took (her) so long 🤪” to realize she has anxious attachment style, Haack noted that “things can be challenging” as a result.
“And by ‘things,’ I mean ‘me,’” she wrote on Instagram alongside a selfie she took inside her car.

Christina Haack has a new man in her life amid her divorce, Us Weekly can confirm. Haack, 41, recently started dating Christopher LaRocca, who is the CEO of Network Connex in Orange County, California. According to the Daily Mail, Haack and LaRocca were spotted on a joint trip to Italy in October 2024 via since-deleted […]
According to Cleveland Clinic, anxious attachment style is “is an insecure attachment style that’s characterized by a strong desire for meaningful relationships, a fear of abandonment and rejection and a high need for reassurance and support.”
“It’s also known as preoccupied attachment or anxious-ambivalent attachment because of the combined elements of anxiety, low self-esteem and an intense need for love and affection,” clinical psychologist Kendra Mathys, PsD, explained for Cleveland Clinic.
As Haack continues to work on those issues, the 41-year-old said that “meeting an unexpected good man,” referring to new boyfriend Christopher LaRocca, “who has his own amazing career, life & hobbies (who also happens to have zero jealousy) can at times feel strange for someone who has had the opposite.”
Haack went public with her relationship with LaRocca in February, six months after she and her estranged husband Josh Hall filed for divorce in July 2024.
Both Haack and Hall cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce. They were married for less than three years.
“At 41, I’m finally learning about safe communication, independence during commitment and a relationship that is NOT 0-100,” Haack continued in her Instagram post. “I am for sure guilty of putting pressure on others. Facing my own insecurities has forced me into doing the shadow work I’ve been avoiding.”
Haack concluded her candor by declaring, “It’s time to break the cycle 🔁 ✨💫🪐.”
During an interview in March with Jeff Lewis on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, Haack confirmed that she’s open to getting married one more time, which is exactly what she told Us Weekly in her January cover story.
“I’ll always love love,” Haack told Us. “I probably will [get married again] eventually. But, not anytime soon.”
In an exclusive interview with Us earlier this month, Tarek El Moussa, to whom Haack was married from 2006 to 2016, agreed that he can see his ex-wife getting married “at least” once more.
El Moussa also praised LaRocca while talking with Us, saying, “The double dates are actually fun. The new guy she’s dating, I really like him. He’s really nice.”
“Honestly, he just seems like a good guy. She’s going through a really tough situation and, based on my conversations with her, he’s supportive, he’s guiding, he’s experienced and he is giving her good advice,” El Moussa continued.
“So far, everything’s looking good,” El Moussa told Us of LaRocca’s relationship with his two children he shares with Haack, 14-year-old Taylor and 9-year-old Brayden. “So far, so good. We’re all hopeful.”
