- The family arrived at 2 a.m. after driving overnight from Florida
- She says the home turned out even better than they imagined
At 2 a.m., after an overnight drive from Florida, Lexy Thomas unlocked the door to a house she had never seen and started recording. Within seconds, her nine children scattered through the space, flipping on lights and calling out as they tried to take it all in at once.
“I think the excitement was and still is very accurate,” Thomas tells PEOPLE. “Everyone loves it and agrees it’s their favorite home.”
The TikTok video captured the moment in real time, with Thomas reacting to everything from bedroom sizes to unexpected details left behind. Her voice bounced between surprise and laughter as the family moved from room to room, discovering the layout as they went.

At one point, she marveled at the kitchen windows while her kids darted down hallways and up the stairs, each claiming a space for themselves. Even small uncertainties, like where storage would go, felt secondary to the overwhelming sense that they had found something special.
The decision to buy the home had come together quickly after months of searching across multiple states. Thomas says her family had nearly settled on a different house before walking away, trusting that something better would come at the right time.
“We prayed about it and knew the Lord was in our decision to back out,” she says. “Three days later, we found this home, and it just felt right.”
Without ever visiting the property or even the surrounding area, the family made an offer that wasn’t contingent on anything. A few weeks later, they packed up their lives and made the overnight drive, arriving with no real sense of what was waiting for them inside.

Online, viewers had plenty to say after watching the walkthrough, with some pointing out the home’s layout and questioning its design. Thomas says those reactions didn’t match what her family experienced in real life.

“We knew the internet would do what the internet does,” she says. “It played no role in our perception of our home and our reality.”
After moving into the home in June 2025, she says the first impression captured in the video has only held true. What started as a leap of faith has turned into a place her entire family feels deeply connected to.
“It’s more beautiful than I could have ever imagined it to be,” she says. “We just sit in awe on our back porch thinking about how much this house feels like it was literally built for us.”
