Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and Jemele Hill are reacting to Bill Belichick’s “awkward” interview on CBS Sunday Morning.
The former New England Patriots coach’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, interrupted his sitdown with Tony Dokoupil on Sunday after the journalist asked Belichick how the couple met amid fervent interest over their 48-year age gap romance. (Belichick is 73.)
“We’re not talking about this,” Hudson, 24, intervened, with Dokoupil noting in a voiceover that the former college cheerleader was a “constant presence during our interview.”
Portnoy, 48, and others weighed in via social media on Sunday, with some expressing concern for Belichick’s well-being.

“My Sunday morning routine is always coffee and CBS Sunday Morning,” Portnoy shared via X. “It’s a feel good show. The opposite of controversial. So image [sic] my surprise this morning when they had the most awkward Bill Belichick interview I’ve ever seen. Like I was squirming in my seat.”
Piers Morgan reshared Portnoy’s post and wrote, “It was utterly excruciating. Mr Belichick needs a family or friend intervention asap.”
Hill, a sports journalist and former ESPN host, wrote, “A 24 year old seems to have more influence over Bill Belichick than Tom Brady. Cold game.”
Meanwhile, current ESPN host Peter Burns shared his thoughts, writing: “I’ve watched this at least 20 times and I keep coming back to the same conclusion.”

“Belichick might be being held against his will,” he posited. “We need to save that man.”
Neither Belichick nor Hudson has publicly addressed the public reaction to the interview. Us Weekly has reached out to Belichick for comment.
Hudson and Belichick have been linked since 2023. Before the pair confirmed their relationship, former New England Patriots player Rob Gronkowski appeared to poke fun at Belichick’s romance with a younger woman during Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady special in May 2024.
“Coach, you used to talk about Foxborough High School when we sucked,” Gronkowski, 35, claimed. “But now I know why you were so obsessed with Foxborough High School: you were scouting your new girlfriend.”
In October 2024, Hudson confirmed their relationship and shared photos of her and Belichick via social media. “Summation of Summer,” she wrote via Instagram at the time.
The pair made their red carpet debut at the American Museum of Natural History’s 2024 Museum Gala in New York two months later.
“The evening was saturated with all of my favorite things: friendship, education, philanthropy, glamour, beet salad, Billy, dance-worthy music, ornithological & oceanic exhibits,” Hudson gushed via Instagram at the time. “We created so many great memories together while supporting a great cause; my heart is filled to the brim!!!”
This past Valentine’s Day, Hudson defended her relationship with Belichick from critics of their age difference.
“Let’s take a deeper dive into the hot topic of the day… ‘LOVE’…,” Hudson wrote via Instagram on February 14, alongside a photo of her and Belichick.
“There is no objective criteria for what constitutes someone’s worthiness of love,” Hudson continued. “We do not need to justify ‘why’ we love a particular person. Love does not discriminate against sex, skin color, religion, age, or ability.”
“People and relationships, like everything else, are impermanent; even though love is eternal. Love is not to be judged. It is never okay to harass or abuse a person based upon who they love,” Hudson added.
