Egypt Sherrod is opening up about her possible “mid-life crisis” and how it's inspiring her to make a major change.

The former HGTV star, 49, took to Instagram earlier this week to tell her followers what she’s been feeling during this period in her life and how it’s making her want to do something she never has before.

“Hey guys, I don’t know what it is — if I’m about to go through a mid-life crisis or what — but I want a tattoo. I don’t have any tattoos on my body and I want a tattoo,” she says as she sits in her closet.

After a laugh, she continues, “I want one of a phoenix rising and I want it to go around my waist and up my back. I’m ready to do this.”

She then asks her followers, “So, who is the best tattoo artist? I don’t care, I'll go anywhere. Who is the best tattoo artist in the nation? Tag them please. I’m serious. I’m going to take you all on this journey when I get it done too.”

With another laugh she concludes the video: “Don’t talk about me, because I think it is a mid-life crisis, but I’m going to do it.”

Last month, Sherrod hinted at more big news when she spoke about a possible new show in the works following the cancellation of Married to Real Estate

Sherrod, who previously hosted the canceled HGTV show with her husband Mike Jackson, teased her possible return to TV in the comments section of a Feb. 17 Instagram post, in which she penned a candid message about the “quiet battles” she's experienced recently.

In the comments, many of Sherrod’s followers praised her message, while a number of them expressed how much they missed watching her and Jackson on Married to Real Estate.

While responding to a few of the comments, Sherrod seemingly hinted at a potential new project she was working on.

“I miss watching Married to Real Estate," one commenter wrote. "That was my show. I don't even watch HGTV anymore. I need you and Mike back."

In response, Sherrod teased back, “GOD is doing a new thing.” When one commenter asked directly, “When is the new show??” the designer responded, “Soon come! Redirection.”

Sherrod and Jackson first shared the news about Married to Real Estate ending in a June 2025 Instagram post, in which they claimed to have heard the news after just returning from a family vacation in the Mediterranean. The news came amid a number of high-profile cancellations from HGTV at the time.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE months later, Sherrod said the cancellation was “just the beginning” of their journey. "We want everybody to be okay with it and just continue to tune in for what's next," she said.
