Ellen Pompeo is getting back into scrubs for a new TV series.

The Grey’s Anatomy star will lead a new Hulu drama from David E. Kelley, currently in development and titled Not a Sound. She’ll star as a disgraced nurse who lost her hearing in a hit-and-run. The series will be based on Heather Gudenkauf’s novel of the same name.

In the show, Pompeo, 56, will star as nurse Amelia Winn, who discovers the body of a former colleague.

“After losing her hearing in a devastating hit-and-run, disgraced ER nurse Amelia Winn and her fiercely loyal service dog discover the murdered body of a former colleague — pulling Amelia into a deadly mystery that could finally reveal the truth about the accident that changed her life,” a logline reads.

David E. Kelley Productions and Gudenkauf shared the news on Instagram. Deadline was the first to report.

The series, from 20th Television, will be written by David E. Kelley Productions president Matthew Tinker and Annakate Chappell and directed by Azazel Jacobs. Chappell Jacobs, Kelley and Tinker will executive produce, while Pompeo and Laura Holstein will also serve as EPs via Calamity Jane.

“I’m beyond excited to share the news that Not a Sound is being developed for Hulu through 20th Television, starring the amazing Ellen Pompeo,” Gudenkauf wrote in an Instagram caption. “David E. Kelley Productions and Ellen Pompeo are bringing Amelia’s and Stitch’s story to life along with writers Matthew Tinker and AnnaKate Chappell (there since the start🩷) and director Azazel Jacobs, who are also executive producing. I couldn’t be more grateful.”

She called the project a “dream come true” and wrote she “can’t wait to see where they take it.”

The casting news comes 21 years after Pompeo first suited up in scrubs as surgeon Meredith Grey when Grey’s Anatomy debuted in 2005. Since season 19, Pompeo scaled back as a full-time series regular.

In the years since, she has starred in and executive produced Hulu’s miniseries Good American Family, and has also been attached as EP to a forthcoming Grey’s Anatomy spinoff set to arrive in 2027, per Deadline.

Pompeo has of course remained a presence in the Grey’s universe and has continued to appear on the show. In 2019, the show surpassed ER as the longest-running primetime medical drama in the U.S., which Pompeo said she “never anticipated” while speaking with PEOPLE.

“How do you walk away from a hit? The fans will dictate when the show ends,” she said. “As much as we think we’re in control, we’re not. It’s the fans’ show at this point. They control how long the show goes. We’ll see. I kind of just take it year by year and see.”
