Family Finds One of the ‘Most Venomous’ Snakes in the World Hiding in Young Girl’s Bedroom

A young girl in Australia nearly had a slumber party with a dangerous snake.

According to SWNS, Narellan Snake Catchers, a licensed snake relocation service in Australia, received a call on March 16 regarding a reptile in a Sydney home.

Latoya Corbett and Daniel May responded to the request and were directed to a cheery pink bedroom once they arrived at the home.

“We were called out to a home on Ellis Lane, Sydney, to relocate this dangerously venomous eastern brown snake from a young girl’s bedroom,” May said about the job.

The snake catchers took footage of their encounter with the eastern brown snake, which Daniel said is one of the “most venomous” snakes in the world, adding that the species is responsible for the “majority of snakebite cases in Australia.”

In the clip, May crouches near a wardrobe filled with pink and purple clothing. On the bottom shelf, though, is a wriggling snake. The snake catcher attempts to maneuver the fast-moving reptile into a bag with a hook, but the snake evades capture, surging out of the wardrobe and across the room.

The video then cuts to May again trying to hook the snake out of a set of shelves. This time, he has to move boxes and toys to reach the snake. As May approaches the eastern brown snake, the reptile darts off, crossing the pink room to slither under a desk.

May and Corbett eventually wrangled the eastern brown snake into the bag without any injuries, though the moment was not caught on camera. After obtaining the snake, Narellan Snake Catchers relocated and released the animal in a less populated location.

In January, a man returned home to South Australia from a trip to New Zealand to find an eastern brown snake had taken up residence in his house.

Faber told the New Zealand Herald he nearly stepped on the snake accidentally shortly after getting back and that seeing the reptile was the “shock of his life. The man also believes his cat may have challenged the venomous snake while he was away from home because the snake catcher who picked up the reptile found bite marks on its scaly body.
