Family of 3 Who Mysteriously Disappeared from Home Was Likely ‘Taken Against Their Will’: Police

Investigators in Alabama have raised concern about the disappearance of a 40-year-old woman and her two children, one of whom is a toddler.

Aurelia Choc Cac, 40, Niurka Zuleta Choc, 17, and 2-year-old Anthony Garcia Choc were last seen at their Mobile County, Ala., residence on Friday, Jan. 30, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement over the weekend.

The family of three were last seen around 3 p.m. that day.

Police responding to a report of a “suspicious disappearance” on Saturday declared the family missing.

Responding officials say there were “signs of a struggle” inside the home, per the statement.

“We do believe the mother, daughter and son were taken against their will and we believe they could be in danger,” the sheriff’s office said.

Cac has black hair, is 5 feet tall and weighs 140 lbs. She was last seen in a maroon jacket and tan joggers.

Niurka has black hair, is 5 feet 1 inch tall, and weighs 100 lbs. She was last seen in a black top and a pair of plaid pants.

Anthony has black hair, is 30 lbs. and was last seen in a cartoon character hoodie and a pair of blue jeans.

The sheriff’s office said in its initial statement they had identified a 30-year-old male person of interest. The office said in a Facebook comment on Sunday that the person “is known” to Cac.

On Sunday, investigators said in an update they spoke to the person and have cleared them as a suspect.
