Lyric Medeiros grew up knowing her dad had once been famous, but she didnāt fully understand the scope of it until she was older.
Her father, Glenn Medeiros, was a major pop star in the late 1980s, best known for his hit cover of āNothingās Gonna Change My Love for You" and 1990's "She Ain't Worth It."
Decades after stepping away from the spotlight, heās finding new attention thanks to Lyric, who features him in TikTok videos that play off his past fame and present-day life.

His 24-year-old daughter agreed, adding, āItās a rare occasion to have my dad willingly film a video with me, and most of the time, I just ask him to stand in the video while I do a trending sound or something like that.ā
Glennās signature ballad, released in 1987 when he was 16, remains a nostalgic throwback for listeners who associate it with school dances and slow songs.
Lyric told TODAY.com that she didnāt fully grasp how recognizable her father was until people began reacting to her last name. āI remember adults coming up to me and saying, āOhhh, Medeiros! Like Glenn Medeiros, the guy who sang that love song!āā she said, noting that many fans vividly remembered his heartthrob era.
For Lyric, bringing her father back into the public eye is less about reviving fame and more about sharing moments that reflect their close relationship and shared love of music.
Back in 2023, Lyric appeared on American Idol, where she told TODAY that Katy Perry āgot up out of her seat and tried to shake me up to get some roughness into me,ā calling the show āa super cool experience.ā
Apart from being an influencer, Lyric is also a full-time attorney who recently earned her MBA.

Although Glenn had long since pivoted away from performing, the response to the TikTok videos caught both him and his daughter off guard.
The clips gained traction due to their casual, unscripted feel, showing a former pop star in a very different stage of life. Today, Glenn serves as president of Saint Louis School in Honolulu ā Hawaiiās only all-boys school.
āIāve been in education now for over 30 years, and they consistently make fun of the big hair in the '80s and my attempt to try to dance in my videos and all the corny stuff in there,ā Glenn told the outlet. āI try to tell them that everyoneās hair was like that!ā

āIām really proud of both of [my children],ā Glenn told TODAY.com. āTheyāve worked really hard.ā
