A Pennsylvania barber is missing in the Delaware River.
The man was out on the water with a group of friends near an island off the shore of the Torresdale section of Philadelphia, Fox affiliate WTXF-TV and ABC affiliate WPVI-TV reported.
Investigators said the man — identified by loved ones as Carlo Gil, a barber from the Dominican Republic who owns a business on Rising Sun Avenue in Philadelphia — jumped from a boat into the river around 12 a.m. local time on Friday, May 29, according to CBS affiliate KYW-TV.
Although two people entered the water, Gil didn't resurface.
Friends said Gil, who is in his 30s, was drinking prior to the incident, according to KYW-TV.
"He swam out of the boat with my other friend and the last word he told my friend [was], 'I can't no more. I love you,' " Argeni Infante Reyes said through tears while speaking with WPVI-TV. "That breaks my heart, because the last word he said [was] 'I can't swim anymore' and I love you.' "
One friend said Gil is known as a helpful person who would sometimes give free haircuts, WTXF-TV reported. “He would do anything for anyone,” they added.
