NEED TO KNOW

  • Geena Davis played an older version of Sabrina Carpenter during the pop star’s headlining Coachella set on April 17
  • She took over the role from her Thelma & Louise costar Susan Sarandon, who did the same the weekend prior
  • Carpenter’s former Girl Meets World costar, Corey Fogelmanis, also appeared during the onstage moment

Geena Davis played an older version of Sabrina Carpenter during the pop star's headlining Coachella set, taking over the role from her Thelma & Louise costar Susan Sarandon, who did the same the weekend prior.

Davis, 70, portrayed an older version of the “Espresso” singer, a.k.a. "Aunt Sabrina," during Coachella's weekend two on Friday, April 17.

Sitting behind the wheel of a vintage car, the actress performed a mid-show monologue. It was notably shorter than the one Sarandon, 79, gave only a week prior.

Carpenter’s former Girl Meets World costar, Corey Fogelmanis, also appeared, standing outside the car and taking Davis' payment as a waiter at a drive-thru theater.

Thelma & Louise follows two best friends — Thelma, played by Davis, and Louise, portrayed by Sarandon — after Louise kills a man attempting to rape Thelma at a bar.

The fan-favorite film, released in 1991, was directed by Ridley Scott.

Carpenter's Coachella sets have been filled with surprise cameos from various celebrities.

Weekend one saw Sam Elliott open the show, while Will Ferrell later made a cameo as an electrician. Samuel L. Jackson’s voice also served as a spiritual guide.

During weekend two, Terry Crews took over for Ferrell, 58. He sang a snippet of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles" — a nod to his infamous White Chicks scene.

Later, Madonna made a surprise appearance. Rising from the stage during Carpenter’s “Juno” transition, Madonna joined the pop star to perform “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer."

The duo then sang a song seemingly from Madonna's Confessions II album, a sequel to her hit 2005 project Confessions on a Dance Floor

“Sabrina, thank you so much for inviting me on your show,” Madonna, 67, said onstage, to which Carpenter replied, “No thanks needed, Madonna. You can have whatever you want.”

Madonna last performed at Coachella in 2015, when she appeared during Drake’s headlining set.

At one point while onstage with Carpenter, the Grammy winner recalled her headlining set from 2006.

"So, 20 years ago today, I performed at Coachella. I was in the dance tent, and it was the first time I performed ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ part one in America," Madonna said.

"It was such a thrill, and it’s a thrill to be back. It’s a full circle moment, you know? [It's] very meaningful for me," she added.
