Gigi Hadid showered her daughter Khai with love on her 5th birthday.
The 30-year-old model uploaded a carousel of snaps from the little girl’s colorful celebration, which featured a heart-shaped cake, balloons and crafts on Monday, Sept. 22. She also included two sweet images of herself and Khai hugging and kissing.
“Celebrating you in the Best Day Ever, every year,” she captioned the images. Happy 5th birthday to the light of my life! You are truly everything, so lucky and proud to be your mama,” she added.
Hadid shares Kahi with former One Direction star Zayn Malik, 32. The duo split in October 2021 after nearly six years of dating; however, it seems that they’re still united in co-parenting Khai, as Hadid made a rare remark about her ex in the comments section of her Instagram post.

In response to one follower who wrote, “I wish her dad would also be there,” Hadid assured them that Khai “was with us both on her birthday.”
While it’s unclear if the model and the singer had separate celebrations for their little girl, whose actual birthday is Sept. 19, she enjoyed marking the milestone with them both.
Earlier this year, Hadid opened up to Vogue about her relationship with Khai and pushed back against the “perfect image” of motherhood.
“For a lot of moms, there’s this perfect image of what they’re supposed to be and how it needs to go,” she said.
“We grow together. You wake up and do your best and you realize it is enough, and there’s a beauty in not necessarily knowing exactly how that’s going to go,” she added. “You can’t always be in control. You can’t always plan.”
She concluded, “Now I just give myself the grace and look at how many things I’ve handled. Step by step, I learned. I got through it.”
And in a 2023 interview with The Sunday Times, Hadid revealed that she was “so glad to be a young mom,” adding that she tries to schedule work obligations when Khai is with Malik. “That she can be with both parents makes me very happy,” Hadid explained.
To mark his daughter’s 4th birthday in 2024 Malik called Khai “the most important person in my life” in an Instagram post. “Beyond proud to call you my daughter.. grateful for every second I get to spend next to you, as you become the incredible person I know you already are,” he added.
Hadid confirmed she was expecting a child with Malik during an April 2020 interview with Jimmy Fallon. In September 2020, the couple welcomed their daughter via natural home birth, later sharing that her name was Khai.
Though Hadid and Malik split in October 2021 following an alleged altercation with Hadid’s mother, Yolanda, they remain dedicated to raising Khai together.
