A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured after the vehicle she was traveling in collided with a school bus in Georgia.
Emergency services received a 911 call at around 7:26 a.m. local time on Monday, April 20, about reports of a crash on GA 520 at Mixon Abbott Road, the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) confirmed to PEOPLE on Tuesday.
After troops responded to the scene, they determined a 2016 Jeep Patriot was traveling west on GA 520 when a school bus traveling east attempted to turn left onto Mixon Abbott Road and failed to yield. As a result, the front of the bus struck the left side of the Jeep, which caused it to overturn.

A 10-year-old girl was ejected from the Jeep and suffered serious injuries, the authorities confirmed. She was later airlifted to a hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to the girl, there were two other children in the car at the time. The driver of the Jeep, identified as Karina Soto by the police, and the two kids were taken to Tift Regional Medical Center by ambulance with minor injuries.

According to the GSP, there were no passengers on the school bus. The driver, identified as Alexander Williams by the police, was not hurt.
PEOPLE reached out to Tift County Schools and Tift Regional Medical Center for further information and comment, but did not get an immediate response.
