Hilary Duff is not scoring any "cool points" from her teenage son.

In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE ahead of her appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show, the How I Met Your Father star, 38, admits to daytime talk show host Jennifer Hudson that while her younger kids give her some credit for her fame, her son Luca, 14, doesn't give her any "cool points."

"My little ones are my number one fan. They want to be at all the shows. It's so cute," she says. "When my confetti cannons go off, they can't believe what they're seeing. It's really cute. Or if I do like a wardrobe change and I come out in something a little more like [done] up, they'll be mind blown."

"But my teenager, I think he doesn't think I'm totally embarrassing," she continues. "I think it's coming for me."

The mom of four goes on to share that some of her teenage son's friends will go out of their way to seek her out and talk to her, jokingly adding how she uses that to prove she's a cool mom.

"Some of his friends at school will go out of their way to talk to me," she shares. "And I'm like, 'Luca. Look at all your friends right now, like they've definitely seen me on TikTok. So like that is cool.'"

Duff welcomed her first child, son Luca Cruz, in 2012, with her then-husband Mike Comrie. Following their split, Duff began dating Koma. The pair married in 2019 and welcomed daughters Banks Violet in October 2018, Mae James in March 2021 and Townes in May 2024.

The Lizzie McGuire alum regularly shares moments with her kids on social media and insight into her life as a mom during interviews. Duff joined Kylie Kelce for the latest Not Gonna Lie podcast episode, where they discussed everything from her career to her recent challenges. Duff revealed whether eating extremely hot wings on Hot Ones was "harder" than her home birth.

"The home birth was much harder," she admitted. "But [Hot Ones] once you get to … like eight and you get to Da Bomb, you're like, 'Not okay.'"

Elsewhere in the podcast, the Luck … or Something artist shared that she's learned a few slang words from her teenage son — even if he doesn't want her to use them.

"Yeah, I mean, all the time. I'm like, 'What am I gonna say that's not going to completely embarrass him?' Because the second I use it or talk about him, he's like, 'Just don't. Please don't,' " admitted Duff.

"It's very cringe. I don't know if cringe is old now," replied Kelce, who shares four daughters with her husband, Jason Kelce. "Cringe might be old. There's probably a new term for cringe."

Duff then shared that there was a new term she learned from her son Luca.

"Something I heard him say the other day was like, he wanted to take a screengrab of his friend. His mom sent me a picture of them when they were little, like, 'Oh, look at this,' " recalled Duff. "And Luca was like, 'Oh, let me have that.'"

"And like screengrabbed it to torture [his friend] with it," she continued. "Cause now he has a baby photo of him. And so basically they call that…like have you ever seen them FaceTime each other? They don't put their faces on the screen."

The actress and musician explained that her son held the phone up high and said that having your face captured on camera is called "getting clipped."

"And they don't want to get clipped. They don't want a screen grab to be taken of them," she said.
