While I love an oversized tote for carrying my work essentials, I hate being bogged down by a huge bag in the thick of summer. So I typically opt for a small crossbody bag, preferably one that doubles as a cute handbag I can carry even sans shoulder strap.
This Vera Bradley crossbody checks all my boxes for a summer handbag, thanks to its versatile straps — a long adjustable strap and top handles — that allow me to wear it three ways, and it’s surprisingly spacious in comparison to its looks. I currently own the chambray version, which reminds me of faded denim — a huge trend right now — but it’s also available (and on sale) in red, green, and white patterns. It’s going to be a game changer for summer brunches, concerts, and shopping excursions.
I was sent the compact yet practical bag to try out, and it’s become an instant favorite in my ever-growing purse collection (I’m not exaggerating: I own over 30!). Its silhouette is exactly the same as the classic shoulder bags and larger duffels I’d bring to sleepovers and on weekend getaways, but on a much smaller scale. And although it’s only a little over 6 inches wide and just shy of 4 inches tall, I can comfortably fit a ton of my essentials inside. Currently, my bag can fit my full-size wallet, hand sanitizer, AirPods, a hefty power bank charger, and lip balm, with room to spare.
