Sophie Hinchliffe — a British influencer known online as “Mrs Hinch” — is speaking out after thieves allegedly robbed her mother’s home.

In a series of posts to her Instagram Stories on Jan. 27, the content creator claimed that “vile individuals” had broken into her parents’ house in Maldon, a small town in Essex, England, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

“You broke into a grieving woman’s home and stole her jewellery!” penned Hinchliffe in a message addressed to the alleged thieves. “Items that belong to my late Dad. Sentimental, irreplaceable pieces that you had NO right to touch.”

Hinchliffe also shared images of the allegedly stolen jewelry, including her mother’s engagement ring and a gold cross.

On Jan. 28, Essex Police said in a press release that it was investigating a “burglary” at a home in the Keeble Park area of Maldon, which PEOPLE confirms was the residence of Hinchliffe’s mother. The release did not name Hinchliffe or her mother as the alleged victims but included several of the same images of stolen goods that the influencer had posted hours before.

Police said that they were pursuing “a number of targeted forensic, CCTV and investigative opportunities,” though no arrests have been made.

“This incident has had a significant impact on the victim and her family and that is not lost on us,” said Acting Detective Inspector Dan Smith, per the release. “There will be a policing presence in the area today as officers carry out house-to-house checks and I would also encourage anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour or has dashcam or doorbell footage of the area within the time period to please come forward.”

Essex Police declined to share any additional details about the investigation.

Hinchliffe — who maintains a following of over 4.8 million on Instagram, and is known for her cleaning hacks — detailed the significance of the stolen goods to her and her mom, especially after her father’s death in 2024.

“It is priceless to my mum,” she wrote. “She has already lost her husband and is trying to piece her life back together, and you chose to violate her home and rip away what little she had left of him.”

The content creator also called for the alleged thieves to return the stolen items, even suggesting that they could do it anonymously: “Hand it in somewhere. Do the right thing!!!”

Reps for Hinchliffe did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
