Just when I was getting used to jeans, Jennifer Lawrence threw a wrench in my summer style plans.
On April 3, The Hunger Games actress, 34, graced the streets and my social media feed with a style combo that just screamed comfort: She wore a springy midi skirt that was as breezy as the weather this time of year and a pair of T-strap flats that were more feminine than her colorful sneakers.
She also wore a muted, matching sweater and a strikingly chic bag, neither of which were red herrings (er, sparrows) for the major style lesson in session.

Ellen Tracy Cotton Poplin Midi Skirt
A midi skirt like this one will be much more comfortable and ventilated than a pair of heavy jeans. The fabric is also entirely cotton, one of the lightest summer materials you can wear. I specifically picked this one because of the extra fabric overlay, which will help hide the midsection.
Trary T-Strap Mary Jane Flats
The cleanness of a simple pair of ballet flats just speaks to me, but my mother, on the other hand, always needs a little something extra on her shoes. In her case, the simple addition of a T-strap might change the whole trajectory of the shoes: They’re harder to overlook and incredibly attention-grabby.
This now-$35 pair comes in both velvet and faux leather, while these ones from Marc Fisher have two buckles for double the style action. They both should be easy to walk in, which is important since we tend to get outside more in the spring and summer, making them a no-brainer replacement for sneakers.
J.Crew Factory Cotton Teddie Sweater
After learning that Meghan Markle shops at J.Crew Factory, I locked in and quickly spotted this 100 percent cotton sweater. It looks like Lawrence’s but maybe even a little more lightweight — I’d size up so it looks unintentionally slouchy.
Dayfine Dome Satchel Bag
J.Law’s look would certainly still come together without a cool bag like hers, but it’s all the better with one. This satchel has similar crocodile-texturing and the same dome shape that, even without the embossing, would outshine others. The removable crossbody strap is a big bonus, too, for moms, travelers, and more, since you can carry it without actually carrying it.
