Jessie J is opening up about her struggle with not being able to focus on motherhood amid her breast cancer journey.

While appearing on an episode of the Great Company with Jamie Laing podcast released Tuesday, Aug. 19, the singer, 37, shared her regret at missing out on spending time with her 2-year-old son, Sky, while undergoing breast cancer treatment.

“Yesterday I sobbed, because I miss my boy. I can’t be a mom like I want to be a mom and I feel robbed,” Jessie J said of her son, whom she shares with boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman.

“The worst part is… I feel like cancer has robbed me of memories with my boy,” she shared. “And anyone with a toddler knows that they change so much in that space of time. You blink and he’s chatting.”

Jessie J publicly revealed her breast cancer diagnosis for the first time on the podcast in May, but the episode was not released. She returned for the latest episode to discuss her health journey following her mastectomy in June.

The “Price Tag” singer shared that some days are “awful” and admitted that at one point early on in her cancer diagnosis, she thought she “was going to die.”

“I had been scared. I was like, ‘I’m going to die,’ ” she said on the podcast. “I had moments where I was like, ‘This is going to go left and I’m going to die.’ At that point, I didn’t know if I was going to have extensive treatment. I didn’t know what it was going to be.”

Jessie J said she had found a lump in her breast, which she was told by doctors was “probably a cyst.” She was eventually told after having tests that the lump had “about 4-5 cm of cancer.”

“I just burst into tears,” she recalled. “I think because I was convinced it wasn’t going to be anything … [The doctors] tell you the result and then they’re like, ‘We’ll be in touch.’ That’s when you’re just like, ‘Right, what happens next?’ ”

Jessie J also spoke about her experience performing her last show before having surgery at the Summertime Ball in London.

“That euphoria and energy was … when I was put to sleep, it was that moment that I replayed in my head,” she said. “It was an unimaginable amount of love I received in that 25 minutes onstage … it was overwhelming.”

Jessie’s latest interview comes after she recently shared in a health update on Instagram that she needs to have another surgery this year.
