Jim Nantz’s 3 Kids: All About the CBS Sports Commentator’s Daughters and Son

Jim Nantz has passed on his love for sports to his three children: Caroline, Finley and Jameson.

The sportscaster, known primarily for his work with CBS, is famous for covering football, golf and basketball, but when he’s not working, he’s spending time with his wife, Courtney Richards, and his kids.

Jim welcomed his eldest child, daughter Caroline, with his ex-wife, Lorrie Carlsen, in 1994. Two decades later, he and Richards welcomed their daughter, Finley, together, and two years later, their son, Jameson, was born in 2016.

After a busy career filled with travel, in 2023, Jim announced his decision to step back from one of the sports events for which he’s best known: the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

The commentator explained that he was prioritizing his family, writing in a personal essay for Golf Digest that his career meant “prolonged absences from home.”

“The plaintive, ‘When are you coming home, Daddy?’ queries from my children were resonating more with each passing year,” he said.

Here’s everything to know about Jim Nantz’s three children: Caroline, Finley and Jameson.

Caroline Nantz Delaney, 31

Caroline Nantz Delaney was born in 1994 to Jim and his ex-wife Lorrie Carlsen.

She attended Staples High School in Westport, Conn., and graduated in 2012. She then went to the University of Southern California, where she majored in communication with a minor in cinematic arts and graduated in 2016, per her LinkedIn.

As a student, Caroline often joined her father during his travels on her breaks. He told Golf Digest in 2016 that his trips would be “too much if my family didn’t travel with me for everything from the Final Four on. My wife, Courtney; daughter, Finley, and son, Jameson go with me, and so does my oldest daughter, Caroline, when she’s on break.”

While in college, Caroline interned at NBC and CBS before starting work as a production assistant at the latter. In 2019, she joined human resources management software company ADP, where she became an elite district manager in 2022.

She has been in a relationship with Andy Delaney since at least 2017, and they got married on Sept. 2, 2023.

Caroline has a close relationship with her younger siblings and still travels with her father to watch matches, including his alma mater, the University of Houston Cougars’ game in April 2025, when she joined Jameson and Jim on the sidelines.

Finley Nantz, 11

Finley Nantz was born to Jim and his wife, Courtney Richards, on March 14, 2014. She was named after Samuel Finley Brown Morse, the founder of Pebble Beach, though Jim told GolfDigest in 2019 that he didn’t mention the connection when he first suggested the name to Courtney.

Finley grew up in the family’s home, which overlooked the Pebble Beach Links in California, until they moved to Nashville in 2021.

In March 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Jim told Golf Digest that he enjoyed having the extra time at home with his family.

“I’ve never been at home for such an extended period of time and I’m loving the family time,” he said. “March 14 was Finley’s 6th birthday, and I was scheduled to be in Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship. Instead I was here watching her blow out candles on her cake. That was special.”

Finley has followed in her father and sister’s footsteps in supporting the Houston Cougars, and can often be spotted with her family in the stands.

“It’s a thrill for me to be able to go to a game as a fan,” Jim told PaperCity in 2024 before one of their games. “To go back tomorrow and have all three of my kids with me. My oldest Caroline. My Finley who turns 10 this week. She’s all excited. My little boy Jamo. We’re all in on the Cougars.”

Jameson George Nantz, 9

Jim and Courtney welcomed their son, Jameson George Nantz, on Feb. 1, 2016. The timing was fortuitous: Courtney was put on partial bed rest in November after concerns that Jameson would be born significantly before his Feb. 10 due date — and Jim was worried about choosing between his son’s birth and Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 7.

“It would have killed me if I would not have been there for the birth of my son, but my wife made it very clear: ‘Don’t even talk to me, you’re doing the game,’ ” he told the New York Post at the time, adding: “It was every day waking up and counting your blessings that the baby had another day in the womb.”

As a child, Jameson was interested in golf, and his skills improved during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Jameson has taken to golf,” Jim told Golf Digest in 2020. “We hit balls in the backyard and to watch the joy across his face when he flushes a 7-iron and the ball flies 50 yards. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Jameson seems to be interested in other sports, too, and has some impressive supporters in his corner. Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who is a longtime friend of Jim’s, has gifted the little boy merchandise on more than one occasion.

“Andy always without fail asks about how my son, Jameson, we call him Jamo, is doing,” he shared during a February 2024 appearance on the What the Football with Suzy Shuster & Amy Trask podcast. “I’ve had now three occasions where, after we finished the interview … he turns around, he takes his hat off, he gives it to me and says, ‘Give this to Jamo.’ ”

“My son, upstairs in his bedroom, has three Andy Reid championship hats, two AFC championship hats and one Super Bowl hat,” Jim added.
