Joanna Gaines just solved my two biggest complaints about white jeans: They can feel too stark and show every little spill.
The cream-colored pair she wore in a recent Instagram post are softer, easier to style, and more forgiving with small spots and spills. They match everything you’d pair white jeans with, but with a more relaxed and lived-in feel — essentially, they’re better equipped for daily wear. This Madewell pair is a close match to recreate Gaines’ look. They’re high-waisted with a wide leg and slightly cropped length that works with just about any shoe style — sneakers, sandals, or even a low heel. I have a few pairs of Madewell jeans, and they’re always reliable: good quality, comfortable, and built to wear all day (without unbuttoning). These also have a bit of stretch, to allow some breathing room without losing shape.

These Levi’s have a similar relaxed, laid-back feel, but the high-rise and adjustable back can cinch in to keep the fit looking tailored instead of sloppy. (And if you’ve ever dealt with an annoying waist gap, you know that’s a big win.) One shopper called them “very comfortable” and said they created a nice shape “without looking boxy.”
