  • The couple recently enrolled their twins in tennis camp but admit the boys are more interested in causing chaos
  • Josh and Shannon are considering expanding their family, though Shannon is hesitant after the challenges of raising twins

Just because Josh Hart is an NBA champion doesn’t mean he’s the biggest basketball star in his house.

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE on July 24, the Knicks guard —who helped secure the team’s first championship in 53 years in June —offered a glimpse into life at home with wife Shannon and their 3-year-old twin sons, Hendrix and Haze, who have taken a liking to shooting hoops.

“They try to impersonate all the guys on the team,” Josh says. “OG [Anunoby] is Hendrix’s favorite. It was me, then it was Jalen [Brunson].”

Although Hendrix is fond of his dad’s Knicks, Haze idolizes a different NBA superstar. “Now he likes saying, ‘LeBron James,’” Josh says of the four-time NBA champion, who recently signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers after spending the past eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. “I’m like, ‘Where did LeBron James come from?’”

Watching his sons discover sports has become one of Josh’s favorite parts of fatherhood, even if their latest athletic venture hasn’t gone according to plan. Recently, he and Shannon, 31, enrolled the twins in tennis camp to expose them to another sport beyond basketball. Instead, they’ve spent much of their time chasing two energetic toddlers, who seem far more interested in causing chaos than perfecting their backhands.

“They’re not listening,” Shannon tells PEOPLE at Vita Coco in New York City for the launch of the inaugural Pit Stain Pit Stop. “They’re throwing rackets. They’re doing all the things. I’m like, this is a disaster. But hopefully they have two weeks of it, so hopefully it gets better.”

Josh adds, “I bought a racket for the house… they gotta get some more reps in because they’re looking a little shaky out there.”

As for whether the Harts will add another member to their team, Shannon says she’s “still thinking about it.”

“You’ll understand when you push out two kids at once,” she jokes. “It’s a little traumatic. So I’m still recovering. Maybe I’ll be there in a year or so.”
