Spring, summer, fall, it doesn't matter — Julia Roberts' outfit works for them all.
Last September, the actress graced my Instagram feed in a series of snaps posted by her stylist Elizabeth Stewart. And in them, Roberts, 58, wore a Trussardi powder blue button-up shirt that’s no longer available, what appeared to be $1,025 Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane pumps, and a denim skirt from the same Italian brand as her top. (It costs €159, which is around $187.)
What I liked most was the fit: The A-line silhouette didn’t look like those uncomfortably tight jean skirts that squeeze your legs and make them chafe. It also had a midi length that looked appropriate for work without being too hot. So of course, I had to find similar styles — and well, mission accomplished. Below, get the look from $35.

Belle Poque A-Line Denim Skirt
I haven’t seen denim skirts in a while, let alone midi silhouettes. But the celebrity-worn style was due for its return one of these days; plus, it’s a dressier alternative to jean shorts, which seem to be at their peak popularity in the spring and summer.
Luckily, I found this Amazon gem that meets the most important criteria: The knee-length is right where I want it, the deep blue wash is almost an exact match to Roberts’, and it has a little bit of a flounce to it for more comfort. One shopper couldn't believe "how light the fabric is," so you won't overheat while commuting, dining al fresco, and so forth.

To keep the look consistent with Roberts’, make sure you also have a button-up in your closet. And not a baggy, boyfriend-style one à la Nicole Kidman, but a slimmer one you can tuck in without drowning in fabric.
